The castle was large and interesting. It was fun walking through the sprawling hallways. The rooms were modernized enough for comfort, yet kept their old charm. There were several peacocks and hens walking about the property outside, which was amusing. The staff was kind and personable. Plenty of free parking. Unfortunately, if you are intending on using the spa facilities, especially massage, facial etc., you need to book much in advance as those were unavailable on arrival.

Staff was very friendly, we enjoyed seeing peacocks roaming around the grounds and staying in such a historic place. The aircon inside the room was also a lifesaver!

A massive 13th Century castle, so understandably bits look a bit tired, but no worse than many of the stately homes I've paid to visit. Spent hours just exploring the hotel and grounds. Very easy access to the town centre, which is currently undergoing a makeover, the new paving looks fantastic. My only criticism would be that the wifi wasn't particularly brilliant, but it didn't cause an issue. No problem for us, but stairs may cause issues for people less able...consider requesting a ground floor room. Lots of places to sit and soak up the castle vibe

A beautiful and historic building which feels like you are staying in a museum. The decor, furniture and fittings are all very old and tired but personally I felt it added to the charm. The sheets were clean and comfortable. Id stay again and recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a time capsule experience rather than a modern clinical renovated hotel

Lovely castle hotel, with beautiful grounds & within walking distance into the village. The hotel does look a little tired & could do with some internal & external maintenance. However the bedrooms seemed to have been modernised & were very comfortable.

A very quirky hotel with plenty of character. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast presented a good choice and the eving menu had a number of choices. Room was a little dated but to be expected in a castle. Peacocks everywhere!! Village centre is very quiet with a number of units closed. Work was taking place on the central mm aren't square so a little unkempt and inaccessible.

We were at a wedding the whole day the staff couldn't do enough to help would recommend highly the grounds were really well maintained and the village is a couple of minutes walk

Rooms are a little outdated but clean, staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and plenty of it. Grounds are vast but only small portion kept tidy. Peacocks on grounds are friendly and you can buy food from reception to feed them. Ruthin town/village is quaint and amazing to walk. Absolutely loved staying in the castle. Would definitely visit again. I went for a wedding and found expedia to be cheapest prices and I had slightly better (bathroom was more modern and i had iron and hairdryer )than people who paid more.

Just a really tired hotel sadly. Room smelt strongly of sewers (from the bathroom). Bed was very tired. Decor throughout the hotel was really tatty. Very sorry looking place
