This is a great place to stay. No frills, but lovely spacious apartment, clean with decent facilities. The staff are lovely, they remembered us from last year! Superb location, a stones throw from the ESF ski school drop off. Excellent value - would highly recommend!

Brilliant stay
This was our fourth stay at MMV St Foy and was fantastic as always. The staff are very friendly and helpful and everywhere is immaculately clean. The spa area and pool are great for tired legs after a day on the slopes. The location of the residence is also fantastic with just a short walk to ESF ski school. My only slight criticism is that the property could do with a refurb and especially new carpets and sofas.

Great location at base of slopes where the ski schools take off from and end, and the centre of the family apres ski activity. Large apartment with wonderful views down the valley. Two bathrooms but only one toilet was a small design oddity in a family apt. Clean on arrival and it only required us to do a basic bin empty and kitchen clean on departure with professional cleaners coming in after included. Swimming pool could be better and was a bit off-putting to go to. There are two apartment buildings that are unlinked meaning you had to walk across in cold to get to it, no dressing gowns supplied and the changing area was very odd design with only a few changing cubicles. Very friendly staff. There are organised activities every evening. Easy to park, a bit on the costly side at €70. There was some free external parking dotted around the resort which you could use if you were not planning to move the car all week. Big ski lockers. Very short walk 30 metres maybe to front de neige. Usual cramptness in morning I'm afraid with opening and closing doors to let people by.

The little village is lovely. Our apartment was dirty when we entered (literally food remains etc) I guess it hadn’t been cleaned prior to our arrival (we paid Eur 80 for early check in). For the first day/night, no heating in the apartment and no power to one of the rooms. (They did resolve that). I had a massage which was nice! Great area and convenient ski room. We would stay again if it was clean next time.

A very basic apartment (reflected in price)
The apartment was spacious but poorly designed with effectively no drying area, no hooks for towels etc. Ski room is just an unheated cupboard with no rack so boots left there dry may end up wet in the morning. Swimming pool facilities are basic. Changing room floor a swap, pool freezing (we regularly wild swim in the north of Scotland it’s a similar temperature). Hot tubs are separate and for spa use only so frozen pool to plastic chair is the option. Check in was chaotic (seemed to be the same frustration for everyone). Location is fantastic. Great view from the balcony. The price point is low and standards reflect this so one should perhaps not be surprised by some quality issues. Albeit my frustration was that some very basic changes would make a big difference.

Nice place, good value for $. Not as advertised.
The room/apartment was nice but not as stated on hotels.com website, the living/dinning room/common area was the main difference, layout was not the same as in the images which would not be an issue but it seemed it was smaller. There were no free toiletries which was also listed as included in the room, having to buy shampoo, conditioner and soap (and toilet paper) for a week is a bit annoying when you don't expect to. Service was a mixed bag, they were polite most of the time but not upon check-in and not being polite was not the problem: they did not have the room ready at the guaranteed time. We arrived before check-in time, at around 3 pm and they told us check-in is at 5 but room would be ready within an hour so no problem at all, we went for a walk and buy groceries and decided to went back at 5 pm to not put pressure on the check-in process but it turned out the room was not ready at 5 and was not for close to another hour and we had to wait in the lobby with our 3 daughters, including a 3 years old who's too active. One girl at the reception was polite and apologetic and asked her colleague if she could give me another room but she wasn't, she replied rudely that no way. I was not in the mood for a scene in front of my daughters and did not want to get stresses after a looong trip from the other side of the Atlantic so I sucked it up. That being said and even though the trip started on the wrong foot, the building is nice and so is the apartment.

AVOID! Total misselling - this is not what we received! Owner will not reply to email
I feel very disappointed by both HomeAway and MMV due to the mis-selling of this property. These photographs no way reflect the apartment we were assigned on arrival. Our apartment (6 person) was much more cramped, far much less luxurious and did not even have an oven! This was not ideal for a Christmas break where we were hoping to cook a meal! The WC was very small and doubled up as the cleaning cupboard. The heaters were badly scorched. There were only very small glasses to drink out of - no tumblers. There were only 4 of us but we still struggled to hang clothing and towels etc - no hooks on back of doors. Although there was a TV, there was not one English speaking channel, not even a news channel. I am mostly disappointed that my complaint regarding this property has been totally ignored by MMV - despite me emailing 3 times now including photographs. They are in a different country and ignoring my emails. All in all, this has been was a poor experience and I would not book again. I would suggest you avoid this property.

Great location and good value
Nice place in a beautiful location. You can walk right out to the slopes in Sainte Foy or it's a quick drive to many other ski areas. The apartment itself was bigger than expected and well equipped (though curiously without a wine opener) and had a beautiful view down the valley. Bedding was fabulous and beds comfortable. Though there were two bath rooms, there was only one (separate) WC. The check in was easy with the desk clerk staying late for my arrival. The wifi worked great though the 4G signal was also very good. There is a small grocery store, wine bar, restaurant and ski shop just steps away. It's also an easy walk to the first lift and ticket office. A couple of gotchas for us were an extra fee for garage parking (you can park in the St. Foy parking lot for free), the use of the spa was for one time only, and we were responsible for cleaning the kitchen before checkout though not the rest of the apartment.

Nice place - but mind the pillows!
Very friendly staff and a great location. We had a 2 bed flat and was comfortable and spacious. Good services in the hotel overall. On the down side, the sauna can't be used without a booking, and often fully booked. The fireplace in the room omits no heating at all, and thus is only ornamental. The controls on some of the radiators were jammed. The sofa in the living room is pretty tired. The master room (two bed flat) has an ensuite with a shower but no toilette. The pool is of a reasonable size, but spoilt by some inconsiderable Brits throwing small balls to each across with quite a force all across the pool!! Wifi is ok but drops every now and then. Several restaurants very close by. The worst part of the flat was the bed mattress and pillows. They were too hard (and I like hard mattresses!!) and very uncomfortable. We used the softer sofa cushions to help but just a bit. It's no 4 star, but a nice place and I'd stay there again, but will bring my own pillow!

great week skiing in a great place
Our first time skiing, 2 adults and 2 children under 10. Very spacious apartment with good cooking facilities and crockery supplied in the room. Incredible views across the valley from both the bedrooms and living room. We stayed in room -504. Situated within 50 metres of the resort, including restaurants ski hire ski school and ski lifts. Beautiful place with lovely helpful people. Will be returning.

Great hotel - Close to Chair lift
Location - Excellent. Only a couple of minutes walk to the chair lift. Apartment - We booked a comfort plus apartment. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (only 1 toilet though), small kitchen but big enough to cook (we did every night) which had a combi microwave oven, 4 ring hob, toaster, kettle, coffee machine & a good range of crockery & utensils. The only downside to the apartment. If there is 4 of you staying, there's only 1 sofa. So if you are driving, chuck in a beanbag or something similar. I read on other reviews the beds are hard. Now, I like a firm bed but even I was looking forward to getting back into my own! And the pillows are so, so. Again, if you are driving, chuck a couple in! The apartment is a good size. These was only 2 of us and a dog, but it would accommodate 4 comfortably. Facilities - You're provided a free pass for the spa. We didn't use ours but I popped my head in, it it looked really nice. The car park is underground, and enough clearance to fit in a VW transporter or similar. There's a small supermarket next door, a nice wine bar/tapas place across the way and a ski hire shop next door also. You're provided a locker for your equipment. Good size for two of you (fitted our boards, boots, helmets etc nicely). You would just about get four sets in at a squeeze. Staff - Super friendly, kind and helpful staff. Couldn't fault them. St Foy is a super resort, quiet and queue free lifts! We will return here and we would stay here again. Good value for money!

Central location to several ski resorts
Good location near the slopes and facilities. Apartment very comfortable for two people, we prebooked a parking space and requested a 'valley view' which was simply stunning. Kitchen small with limited work surface but not an issue, worth noting there is no oven, so slightly difficult cooking the pizza's we had got! There is a microwave/grill combo. Plenty of hot water and good heating in apartment. Some have commented on the wi-if, we found it fine although you do have to register every 24hours. The speed was 1.5mb inside the apartment but as we only get 0.3mb at home seemed super fast! Town has a couple of small supermarkets and a good bakery, few pubs and eating places. No real nightlife which suited us and we never had any noise from the Whiplash pub within the MMV complex but we were facing the outer valley. Seems a mass of UK people, which surprised us a little, if you are thinking small French town, no more UK than French. Finally skiing good, we did out first and last day in resort and got a four hour pass, which meant we could easily cover every run both days. Easy drive to Tignes/Val d'isere for three days and also completed La Rosiere which was within a 25mins drive, so plenty of variety in a week if you are happy to drive between resorts.

lovely location shame about the beds !
really fantastic location. Hotel facilities are ok but very cheap and basic. The linen and bedding is good but the beds were really very uncomfortable, "like sleeping on a board" after a days skiing a comfortable bed is essential for me. The second bedroom in our 2 room suite, was without windows, small and resembled a prison cell, our daughter refused to sleep in it. She ended up with the double bed and my husband and I slept on the sofa bed, which was marginally more comfortable than the double bed.

Great hints and tips about hotel and Val & Tignes
The hotel looked amaz on website but it is very old, corridors musty. room was nice but not modern like in photos. Catering facilities were good. Location: You have to drive past St Foy village & keep driving until you get to a mini junction with Val & Tignes ahead, St foy station a turning on the left. Turn up. Keep going towards st foy station, keep going until you see a big sign 'biennue' or something, on the right is a big parking area, go around that bend and then at the end of the road there is a turning straight ahead before the bend. Drive straight ahead and around the first bend to the right and you will see cars parked on the right in a line and then a car park a bit further up on the right. This is all free parking. walk up the hill under the tunnel.Out of tunnel there is a ski shop on left, walk way back on yourself. Reception is up there on the right :) Spa - the website said full service spa which i thought was free but the swimming pool is free but the spa is 12 euro per person for 45 mins. Hotel is 20 mins drive by car to get to Val and Tignes. In Val we parked in the 1 hour bays which turns our you can park all day for free as they don't give parking tickets.

Good accommodation close to ski slopes
This was my second visit to the apartments. We had a one bed room that was advertised as being big enough for 4 people (ie, there was a sofa bed as well). However, it was actually very small and 4 people would have been tripping up over each other. The main room measures only 4 metres by 3 metres - that is the kitchenette, dining table and sofa bed!! You can only just work at the cooking area because of the proximity of the dining table. That is why I have only given a 3 for room comfort. The bedroom and bathroom were, however, more generous in relative terms. Last time I stayed I had a 2 bed room for two of us and it was huge. The positives are that the apartments are very close to the chair lift (less that 5 minutes walk) and shops. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is a pool (but its cold). And you get a 20% discount for ski hire (SkiSet shop) if you mention you are staying at the apartments. I will definitely return to L'étoile des Cimes but will probably pay extra for a larger apartment especially since there isn't anything to do in the village in the evening so you are confined to your room which therefore needs to be comfortable.

Residence Club MMV L'Etoile des Cimes
Sainte Foy ski resort, 18 January 2016. Booked a one bedroom apartment but ended up in a two bedroom duplex which was excellent. For the two of us we had much more room than required. There was also a lovely large balcony. The accommodation was warm and comfortable, tv and DVD player provided. The hotel/residence is on the ski slopes and you can ski back to the ski locker room. It is about a fifty yard walk to the nursery slopes and ski down to the chair lift. There is underground parking within the residence for a charge of €49 for the week. A lift carries you to your floor. There are also a swimming pool and spa and sauna facilities. We were fortunate to have lovely fresh snow. Sainte Foy is a small quiet ski resort with only 4 chair lifts. The pisted runs can easily be skied in a day but they are good quality and some are tree lined to allow better visibility. The scope for off piste skiing is enormous.

Well priced, comfortable and pleasant to stay at.
Having stayed at previous private chalets previously, I was a little skeptical of staying in a larger place, however I was pleasantly surprised and will certainly consider staying here again. Though not ski in-ski out as a lot of people like, it is only a minutes walk to the piste and the first lift. The room was spacious and comfortable and we were fortunate to get a lovely balcony view down the valley, awesome! Despite being a big apartment block it still has the traditional chalet feel with wooden trim, big heavy doors and nice decor to give it the right feel. Close to bars/restaurants and has a tv if you fancy staying in.
