Great hotel in a fantastic location. Both the city center and Fisherman’s Wharf are within walking distance. North Beach has plenty of nice restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Wonderful staff in a quirky hotel with lots of history. Well located in San Francisco with many places an easy walk. Very close by are very good restaurants and coffee shops. However be aware that the hotel does not have an elevator and reception is on the 2nd floor.

This hotel has so much character and is in a very vibrant locale. The rooms are clean and cozy and all the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The bathroom is aethetically old and cool but the shower is very small and the water pressure is lacking. The blankets are old and pilly and the bed was not that comfortable. I loved the sherry offering in the afternoon. It would have been really nice to have some coffee and tea options in the room. My favorite thing about the room is the little table and chairs at the bay window - we enjoyed sitting and people watching.

Absolutely loved this hotel! It was cozy, quiet, staff were exceedingly helpful and the location is the best. You can walk out the front door and have food paradise within inches…. Cafes, coffee, pastries and Italian food as good as any we’ve had in Italy! Highly recommend!!

We came to SF to celebrate our 20th anniversary in the city where we met 26 years ago. We chose this place for its unique atmosphere and convenient location. We loved everything about our stay. The staff were friendly, the room was eclectic and clean. You can’t beat the location. We will definitely be back for our next visit.

My boyfriend and I LOVED our stay. The rooms are on the small side, but they are adorable and just like the photos. We both slept really well. The shower had amazingly good water pressure for a hotel of this age. We were impressed!There is a great pastry and coffee shop right downstairs called Stella's. It couldn't be more convenient. Cafe Trieste, just around the corner was a great find. There is a restaurant right next-door called the stinking Rose. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, with friendly staff. We both loved this location as there are other coffee shops and restaurants very close by, all within short walking distance. The hotel staff were great, very informative, welcoming and easy to chat with about the history of famous folks who have stayed in the hotel - if you're interested.The only thing I would mention to future guests is that the rooms (facing Columbus ) got REALLY warm in the afternoon, so draw the blinds before you leave for the day. Fans are provided and they do help but drawing the curtains makes a big difference. 😊 We are already planning to return within the next few months!!
