A little pricey but excellent hotel and service. The actual beach is really small, which was a little disappointing based on the pictures i had seen. Had to wait almost an hour after check in time (4PM) and had already been waiting for over an hour, but lots of people were also on the same boat.

Stayed for one night. Supposedly best in San Juan. Great location and generally glamorous. But…mixed staff, some delightful, some should not be working in a five star hotel, in particular one of the female hosts at the oceanfront restaurant ( really pool-front restaurant ). Sullen appearance and bossy. Failed to get coffees in bar/lounge after 39 minutes. Had to complain, no manager on duty! They were comped but that was’t the point. Soundproofing from corridors poor. Would not stay there again. Disappointing end to our vacation.

This is my second time at the Vanderbilt after 12 years. I came because I remember the excellent service and beautiful hotel common areas. Service this time did not disappoint - impecable. Every employee you interact with actively engages, looks at you in the eye, and offers help above and beyond. Pool staff is incredible. They follow you with towels and ensure you are setup comfortably. Please note there is indeed beach access but you have to walk a tiny bit to the side towards their sister property, La Concha hotel. This is not very clear and the only minus is that we were not told there is beach access and we just assumed we just had a pool and an ocean view. As usual with these high end hotels, you always get hit with 'hotel/resort' fees in the end but definitely worth the money.

We experienced an issue accessing our room after returning from the pool. Because the double connecting doors would not sync properly, our key would not connect, and we were left standing outside waiting for assistance. This was inconvenient and uncomfortable, especially after being in the pool. I recommend checking the door system to prevent this from happening to other guests.

With the many 5 star resorts we could have stayed at, this was not the best pick for a family. The sheets were thin rough and the pillows flat. Our suite was not cleaned on a regular schedule, for context we went out on a planned excursion (left early came back around dinner time) and the suite was untouched. When booking we always look for family friendly so we were beyond surprised to see the only hot tub was in the adults only area and although our children are in the upper teens it is not appropriate for adults to be rubbing on each other in a public space. Thankfully we brought our our toiletries as those were not replaced the entire 6 day stay despite my daughter using them on day 1. The food was below standard for a resort, for context we ordered room service one day food was Applebee’s quality, ate at the ola several times, the brunch was okay, expected more fresh fruits as it is an island but only papayas, watermelon, melon. The pool area for “families” is crowded with the one salt water pool always full and the larger pool empty due to the colder temperatures of the water. We ate at STK, this was the best meal we had but with a $900 price tag for a family of four it should have been excellent. We will not stay here on our next adventure but rather look at all the reviews. We were in Miami a few weeks ago and everything this hotel missed the W gets right, perhaps ownership management should look to add in fruit juices, mocktails, and light pool options for snacks.

Excellent hotel. The rooms are clean and smelling good. The personal is very attentive and friendly. My husband and I visit the comfort suite at least 4 times per year and the experience is always great. We love the breakfast.
