Our stay was ruined by our valet parking experience.
Four friends and I flew in from VA, MA, NC, and GA to see the Savannah Bananas. We splurged on special tickets to meet and greet players before the game.
On game night, my friend got one cryptic text in reply to her request for our car. (“We received your request.”). We waited forty minutes, then found the valet, who told us he had put the car outside when he got the text!
We found the car in the narrow alley by the hotel, surrounded by cars on both sides, as checkins arrived on a busy Friday night. After another half hour, we found him and he moved a car so we could get out. The valet service seemed understaffed for a busy night. We had a few minutes at our long-awaited meet and greet but missed most of it. When we returned, my friend waited with the car for him to park it. She gave him her key, but the next morning, it was still parked on the street! He said he hung the key on the wrong hook.
We also found out that our friend prepaid for valet parking with her registration and was charged again at checkin! Attempts to resolve the double charge have failed. Marriott says it is Fairfield’s issue to resolve and vice versa.
This experience ruined what could have been a decent stay, although my room had no body wash or hair dryer. Desk staff was pleasant and helpful and breakfast buffet was well stocked.
Location and price were good for historic area.
