A little gem hidden in Pictou Country with something for everyone. Far enough from local towns located on the highest point around the area, but only a 15 min drive to Pictou or New Glasgow.

Had a really nice stay at the property, really clean, enoyed the pool and hot tub , and hiking trail and the staff was really nice and accommodating will stay again for sure

First time staying there and it was very relaxing and quiet ( we stayed in a room) all though the pull out sofa was very uncomfortable to sleep on. They had one BBQ to share for all rooms which wasn’t ideal, wish they had at least 2-3.

Unorganized and poor customer service. The property was overbooked and did not honour my online reservation. They accommodated for 1 of 2 nights and owned up to the mistake, but unprofessionally complained about their online booking service and did not make any attempt to find or recommend other accommodations to extend our stay in the area. We wasted a cooler of food we brought to cook on the bbq/kitchen and never got to enjoy any of the amenities on-site as planned. This seems like a nice place to unwind and relax, but I would not recommend booking here for less than 3 nights. And if you book online for a short weekend stay, check and double check with the property before arrival that they actually have a place for you to sleep.

Beautiful cabins tucked away in the woods. The pool was amazing. Includes Fire pits, wood stoves, kitchen, bathroom. Everything you need.

I'm only disappointed that it took me so long to realize these chalets were so close to me! They're perfect for a weekend getaway, quiet, and secluded and have beautiful views from the mountain. Staff are super friendly and check-in was very easy. The cabins have a wood stove with ample free firewood provided. It comes with a stove, fridge and microwave. The drawers and cupboards are stocked with all the utencils you need for cooking and entertaining. We brought our two dogs (only $10 per pet, per night) and they loved it. There's several walking and hiking trails marked with signs along the driveway up to the cabins. We didn't pack accordingly for the hot tub, but it's open very late! There's a sweet outdoor pool as well. Great place to bring the family in the summertime; pre-book for sure! Johns Country Canteen is only a 15-minute drive from the cabins where we picked up snacks and drinks. There's an NSLC attached to the store which is very convenient. I love the atmosphere. It was definitely difficult to stay only one night. I highly suggest staying two nights minimum! Highly suggest checking these chalets out if you live in or near Nova Scotia, you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful place,gorgeous sunrise and sunset on a top of mountain . I’ll recommend this place for my friends and probably come back next year. We were rented chalet only for one night on our way back from PEI, but stayed two days couldn’t leave that place.

The location of this chalet is absolutely beautiful. Everything was fantastic during our stay. The bathtub in the room is huge and has jets. The hottub was ooen during our stay but i only used it once, there were hornets about(just the time of year, no fault to the chalets) and I'm allergic to them so i was a bit nervous haha. The road going into the property is this beautiful shaded dirt road, with a couple trails you can walk or bike. It was a perfect location to stay at during my fiances first visit to my home here in pictou county.

We loved every thing with the exception of the bumpy driveway and we had to live with our garbage for 3 days. The only time we saw any staff was when we took our recycables and green bin to them.

Loved the view from our windows and deck. The chalet was spacious with a very large bathroom. Full fridge and kitchen stock with cooking supplies. There was severe spring melt which made the road up to the top of hte mountain vertually impassible. Though we almost made it to the top with our car, we did get stuck in the mud and had tobe pulled out by a towing company. OUr guests had to be picked up on the road and at the bottom to be brought up to our location. The staff and especially Melissa who escorted us up and down the hill in a truck. The chalet is very quaint but not sound proof. We had fun talking to each other in our rooms. Some creaky beds but it added to the atmosphere. We are looking forward to going back again when the weather and road is better....

We stayed the weekend for my Boyfriend's Birthday and enjoyed it so much we're already booked for my Birthday in March. I want to let people know that it is ATV and snowmobile friendly we were not aware at the time of booking, but will bring the bike next visit. Chalet was beautiful and also pet friendly for an extra $10 a night, everything was clean, also if you forgot something the NSLC/corner store is only 12min away!

Hello: As the owner of Smith Rock Chalets I am responding to your review. I checked through our records and only one guest has been charged additional fees in the last 10 weeks so I believe that I know with whom I am communicating. The rate that you found online and quoted us at the time of check-in does not exist, not in off season, not during the week, not ever. However, in the interest of good customer relations we honoured the lower rate you told us you found online. You said that you would provide a copy of the confirmation with that price and at this time you have not forwarded that information to us. At no time did you notify us that you had dogs that were with you. It is our policy to charge for pets and they are allowed (for health reasons) only in certain chalets. When you checked out you were informed that you were being charged for the dogs being in the chalet during your stay. At that point you became hostile, threatening and abusive to one of my employees. Another employee had to sit in for protection and you were advised that the police would be called. At that point you left. We are a small business trying to survive in these turbulent times. We attempt to provide a positive experience to all our guests and rely on fair and honest reviews. P.S. — the positive review that you provided on Sunday is much appreciated and I am glad that we were able to meet your expectations.
