"Lovely site with stunning views from all rooms, and an enjoyable Penisula walk throughout the property. Dinner at the Coast Kitchen was also very nice.
Our complaints were that water bottles were not refilled in the rooms, nor were dirty cups & glasses replaced. We ended up going out & buying a jug of water and having to reuse drinkware. There was also no coffee available to make in the room, and it wasn’t readily available in the main lodge outside of the hours of 6AM - 8AM. Our dislikes seem minor but when you have such a nice facility with premium priced rooms, little inconveniences really stand out."
"Staff was extremely helpful, was there for a wedding and needed a late check in. It was arranged without any difficulty. The room was small but clean, the electric fireplace was nice to sit in front of. The breakfast was really just coffee and cereal with some packaged pastries but that's fine. Overall would come again."
"A perfect birthday getaway
My partner and I stayed two nights for a birthday getaway, and it was exactly what we needed. We were in the Sea Urchin room, which had adorable decor and a bottle of red wine waiting for us on arrival, a thoughtful touch that made us feel welcome right away. The whole place has such a calm, peaceful atmosphere that I felt genuinely relaxed and reset by the end of our stay.
The homemade breakfast was a highlight. We enjoyed fresh buttermilk biscuits and lemon blueberry poppyseed scones, and the hosts even surprised us with a special cookie treat to celebrate his birthday. Little gestures like that made the trip feel truly special.
If you’re looking for a cozy, restful spot to celebrate an occasion or just unwind, I’d highly recommend this B&B. We’d love to come back!"
"Very good location! There is direct access to a trail, and the ocean is just a few steps away. The lady at the lobby was friendly and helpful.Free parking is also a plus. The only downside was the musty smell in the bathroom. Overall, a great place to stay!"
"This was an absolutely wonderful stay. The room was cozy and clean. The view ( keepers room) was stunning, even from the bed! The fireplace put out plenty of heat. I actually never saw any hosts. Used the self check in and left at end of my stay. The lighthouse museum and tower tour were well worth it and informative. I enjoyed walking all the trails and views. I would gladly stay there again."
"This is one of my favorite places to stay. Lovely, charming, unhurried with beautiful architecture and grounds. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was exactly as I recall it being roughly 12 years ago - spacious, lovingly decorated, attentive details everywhere with luxurious, high quality furnishings. The Madrones is a welcome respite in Anderson Valley and great home base for local wine tasting.
The restaurant was still as cozy and intimate as I remembered, with simple but carefully crafted dishes. The dining courtyard could not be more charming. The ambiance is unbeatable at The Madrones and our experience was overwhelmingly positive. (There were a couple of minor areas of improvement: the tv wasn't properly working - but staff provided a half bottle of wine to make up for this - and the large blinds and bathroom ceiling could use dusting/cobweb removal.) All else was spotless and well maintained. I would return again and again and highly recommend The Madrones."
