This is an amazing property built in the late 60's. Very rustic and built into a rock mountain with fantastic views over the Northern Serengeti. You must appreciate rustic and that not always will you have power and hot water, it is very very remote and difficult to get to. I'm an adventurer and this was my favorite of all the places we stayed, but not for everyone. It could use some maintenance, but overall the food was great and is a one of a kind accommodation. We booked and paid for this through Expedia but had difficulty when we got to the property in that they didn't have our reservation on the books. They required us to pay at the desk in cash, and provided a receipt. We are working on our refund from Expedia for our credit card payment.

We arrived at the lodge’s main entrance road sign about 6pm, myself and two young daughters after a full day of driving, tired and hungry. The main entrance road was blocked by trees branches clearly arranged in a line across the road. No written sign to redirect traffic or explain. We drove on to see if there was another entrance, there was none. we drove back to the main entrance I got out of the car removed the branches and drove up to the lodge to find the road had been washed away a short distance from the main road and was impassable. We assumed the lodge has been shut. There were two lions meters away from when I got out of the car to remove the branches. We reversed and drove on, after 90 minutes of driving and not finding anywhere to stay we decided to drive back to Seronera Lodge which was at least a couple of hours away because the roads are terrible. On the way past Lobo Lodge I saw the lights at the lodge were on, I drove to the lobo airstrip to see if anyone was there, luckily someone was there, he told us there was a road behind the airstrip that goes to the lodge, No sign anywhere to inform clients of this. Finally we arrived at the Lodge just before 9pm tired and very hungry. The rooms floorboards creaked loudly, the bathrooms are in desperate need of repair. we were asked to pay more money for an extra room, because I had booked one room to share with my children one who is 13 another 16 years old and asked to deposit into the managers private bank account!

Mooie omgeving, gedateerd en grootschalig

De Lobo Lodge is grootschalig. Ligt in een prachtige omgeving. De lodge zelf is wel wat gedateerd. Helaas was het zwembad tijdens ons verblijf in maintenance. Diner was prima verzorgd, alleen zaten we met maar 3 tafels in een hele grote (volle) ruimte. Als je buiten de periode van de grote trek komt, houdt er dan rekening mee dat er niet heel veel weggetjes zijn om te rijden (op tracks for africa staan er meer) en op de borden worden circuits aangegeven, maar deze zijn veelal niet begaanbaar (je kan van daaruit wel in ongeveer een 1-2 uur naar de Mara rijden). Dat maakt een verblijf van meerdere dagen minder interessant.

The property has been closed for two weeks and we were not notified until we got there in the middle of the night we need an explanation and refund. We were left in the middle of a national park stopped by rangers because its illegal to drive in the national park in the night putting us at high risk and not knowing where to go at that time of the night it took another 5 hours to get to the nearest hotel arriving at 2in the morning and having to pay a ranger for escort I will be making an official complain

Lovely location but a bit far from Mara River. Decor was stunning. Staff very helpful manager very accomodating. Food was soso. Didn't get to use the pool or gym etc.
