Island Pond Country Inn (Formerly the Lakefront Inn & Motel)
6/10 Okay
"Overall, this is just an ok place to stay to lay your head. Stayed late May for a family member's wedding. I had read the reviews about the hot water and the reply that they were making improvements to the boiler, so we chanced that the improvements were complete. The first shower was essentially unbearable with the water temperature. Second day shower seemed a little warmer and by the third day, it was good. I don't know what is going on there, but if you are looking to warm up with a hot shower, it's a crap shoot.
The property has a gorgeous lakefront view, but otherwise, it is dated. Which is fine, but could be upgraded with nicer towels, and better soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc.
The customer service was essentially zero. We were arriving after office closure and called to ask how to check in and none of the phone numbers we called answered. At check-out there was no one in the office. I called the number and got "hello". Just seems like, if you run a hotel, you would answer the phone with "XYZ Hotel". I know its a very small town, but maybe have a little more professionalism."
"We loved the location and the views from our room. The small bathroom was a little challenging. The biggest issue we had was the bed. The floor of our room wasn't level therefore the bed was slanted. Our heads were lower than our feet and it was pretty uncomfortable. They allowed us to leave our bikes in the bike rental building and I am pretty sure someone used my bike. Probably need better communication among staff."
"Spent 2 nights during the week. Great location. Staff was helpful with questions on hiking and biking. Breakfast was s simple and very good. I would go back."
"Highlights first: Definitely a top notch gym! The same for the views, the spa area, and the concierge. We really enjoyed the pools and it was good to have indoor and outdoor options. The staff and drinks at Flannel were great! Low lights: There needs to be more monitoring of kids’ behavior at the pool because the parents sure didn't set enough boundaries. Enforce no jumping, diving, and hot tubs for unaccompanied kids. The food at the restaurant (the Roost) was pretty mid and the least enjoyable part of our stay. The faucet in the shower/tub screeched like crazy when in shower mode. Overall: we’ll be back."
