Excellent service from the friendly and ever helpful staff. Property is a bit dated and old but it's clean and very comfortable. Convenient location with multiple food options open till late, retail and transportation within the vicinity.
Metro Line 1 and Line 9 exits are just outside the hotel. For those travelling to other parts of China or even Hong Kong, the Shenzhen railway station and Luohu port is just across the road.
We had a delightful stay and will definitely be back again.
Check in as usual was very smooth. Elva, who was at the concierge was super helpful. She even helped us to buy train tickets to Foshan. She also contacted us on our day of departure to make sure we know exactly how to get to the train station. She also helped us with a lot of good recommendations on where we can go for our meals, given our choice of food.
This Shangari la hotel is by far the worst I have stayed. The carpets are dirty and the ceilings are low. There are hundreds of taxis blocking the entrance of the hotel.
Disappointing staff, facilities and breakfast buff
It is not a Shangrila quality hotel in terms of facilities or staff skills, not even international level quality. It wasn’t just the lack of English - it was the lack of problem solving abilities, so simple requests/issue had to go up to management level. The buffet was also more of a 3 star tourist hotel than I have experienced at Shangrila in Wuhan and Xiamen (also abroad - but I don’t expect Western or UAE quality here.) I will not return and I will tell everyone I know to steer clear.

The property itself is fine, but I am disappointed with the service provided by the Expedia agent, the agent was not helpful, i had to pay 2 extra nights that I didn't need to stay.

The hotel is relatively old therefore if you fancy new hotels please book the ones in Futian or Nanshan districts

Great time unable to travel out of Chine this year, we decided to spend Christmas at the Shangri la. Jeanne in check in upgraded our room, got us a discount on the Christmas Buffet, rooms were quite. The breakfast was great. Everyone there treated us well.

This used to be my favourite hotel for the past 15 years - the last 2 trips I have found the staff speak less and less English and the food in the horizon club lounge was not worth the extra dollars. So disappointing
