"The location and view from Shell Island is marvelous. Whether you’re looking at the ocean side or the marsh side, Shell Island is the last residence on the north end of Wrightsville Beach. The indoor and outdoor pools are nice. The staff were hospitable and responsive. The suite size is better than most. Ours had a double Queen bedroom on the marsh side, a 1/2 bath and full bath, and a living/dining area on the beach side. The only complaint we had is that the room’s furnishing were more Motel 6 than we expected. The beds were basic and not all that comfortable. The microwave was installed against the wall and the door couldn’t open more than a few inches. The coffee and side tables were knock down furniture and were separating at the joints. This was a bummer because we lived in Wilmington for a few decades and visited Wrightsville Beach regularly. Shell Island was a dream stay and it didn’t quite live up to its high end persona. "

"A very nice, quiet stay here. The staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and bright with fun, good-quality shower products, and the breakfast was unique and tasty. We especially liked the Denver omelettes and pancake machine at breakfast!"
