"Fantastically located hotel. Right in the centre. M and s food store next door. Staff were charming and friendly. I’d certainly stay there again. Parking is a bit tight (say 20 spaces) and the hotel was well attended. That said, there was a cheap car park within a few feet."

"What a surprise…top marks for the new owners, massive investment with more being spent but what a fabulous hotel, lots of nice features in the bedrooms, electric window blinds, motion sensors which switch on soft lighting…no bashing of toes when a bathroom visit is needed in the middle of the night, great choice of menu and good quality, breakfast also very good, staff super friendly and helpful, we will definitely be back for another stay, thank you!!"

"Nice hotel only just over 5 mins walk from the Railway station. And about 10mins walk from the Festival. I went to Carlisle Blues Rhythm and Rock put on by Solid Entertainments. The best music promoter in the UK. The Room was nice with one of them all in one bathrooms in them which I like. Shower was easy to work. Bed was clean. Wooden floor. Breakfast was pretty good. All hot food had lids on them so warmer than the terrible infa red lights at some other places where it is always cold. Staff nice. Easy check in. And Hotel handy for City centre and Castle. Town was clean. People very nice."

"Really nice staff. Peter was especially helpful putting something I’d left on one side until I could return and pick it up. The hotel is pretty big running along several Georgian houses. The room was very large and very well modernised As a hotel they don’t serve breakfast but that’s not an issue as several nearby places do. It’s located on a lovely spot - probably the best area to see Cockermouth . I’d thoroughly recommend it"

"All good and hotel met expectations. Hotel is perhaps a little tired and in need of some refurbishment but rooms clean, beds comfortable and good shower, ideal for golf trip accommodation and reasonably priced. Only thing to watch out for is my room was next to the kitchen extractor fan that comes on at 7am so don’t expect a lie in if you are in room 6"
