"This is the place to stay if you are visiting San Simeon or Cambria. It is only about six minutes away from Hearst Castle and another four minutes to get up to viewing the elephant seals. All of the staff is super friendly and attentive to anything you need. The breakfast is something to write home about: eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cold cereals, fruit: everything you might want. (Did I mention the cookies? Upon check-in or anytime you want to wander to the lobby for a cup of coffee and a cookie.). The pool was warm, even in March, and the hot tub was perfect. There’s even a table fire-pit for chilly nights or mornings. "

"If you're looking for a coastal getaway on the Central Coast, the Cavalier Oceanfront Resort in San Simeon, CA is an absolute gem. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome — everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. We stayed in a Deluxe King Room with a patio and ocean view on the first floor — a perfect setup for us and our service dog. The patio gave our pup easy outdoor access without any hassle, and waking up to an ocean view was simply beautiful. It's worth noting that first floor rooms come with a patio while second floor rooms have a balcony — the layouts are otherwise the same, so it just comes down to personal preference. The room itself was comfortable and well-appointed, and when I called to request fluffier pillows, they were delivered promptly — a small touch that made a big difference. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant and were thoroughly impressed. The Chicken Marsala was absolutely delicious — we enjoyed every single bite. It's the kind of meal that makes you want to skip going out altogether. The Cavalier is a special place — beautifully situated along the Pacific, with a team that clearly takes pride in making every guest feel at home. We will definitely be returning, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway on the California coast. "No shops except in Cambria which requires a drive. Pool is comfortable. Rooms were clean and nice size. No rooms with balconies, so you have to sit in the lawn chairs if you want to enjoy the view."

"When we arrived the office was closed due to the staff going on a break. We got to our room finally after waiting for staff to come back. Our room smelled like marijuana so bad we had to open all the windows. The smell never got better through the whole stay and I had a horrible headache anytime we had to be at the room. Not a good experience especially for how much we had to pay. "
