"The staff were nice. But the property was old and not in the greatest condition. The room I had had window drapes and sheer curtains that did not move well, separately making it hard to open and close them. There was no AC and only a small window and balcony door to open to get a breeze and, for safety reasons since I was on the first floor and the room was accessible from the outside, I could only keep the small window open. There was a fan but it had a very bright control display that made a dark room not dark. Besides that, the other window in the room was near a lighted sign and the blinds did not fully cover the window so light came in making the room even brighter. The room had few power points and made it difficult for plugging in accessories like charging cables and my cpap machine. Finally, the bathroom had a shower over a tub and the tub was narrow and difficult to get in and out of. Was not happy. "

"Comfortable stay for one night. Beds were good. We can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat there. Staff were friendly. Central location. Short flat walk to two large supermarkets and the historic railway station. Parking was easy on site, although the hotel charges NZ $20 per night."

"I spoke to the lovely manager and she advised me that they are in the process of doing a refresh and remodel of the rooms. Overall it was just fine for one night. The shower was a bit icky. I can see that if they took the time to make a significant investment in the remodel it will pay off especially because nice properties definitely get a return for that investment in city locations"

"Nice vintage-style room. We rushed to arrive by 7pm, as the office closed at 7. We arrived at 6:50 only to find the closed sign. Had to hit the emergency button. We prepaid for breakfast, but received no details from the young man that checked us in; however a beautiful and large breakfast was delivered to our room just before 8am. Had we been informed, we would have answered our door faster. The apartment was mostly clean, had adequate kitchen and included instant tea, coffee, and cocoa. A container of milk was provided at check in. Bed was comfortable; did find several long hairs on the sheets. Separate shower and toilet rooms were nice. Washroom vanity is very small. Hairdryer was great! Parking was right in front of our apartment. "

"Given an unexpected family room with 2 bedrooms, a kitchenette with microwave plus washer & dryer. Very handy. Not so close to the main central shopping area but not too far to walk either. Paid Parking for car in the next building."
