"We've stayed with this chain before (in Fairbanks in 2006) and found basically the same types of buildings. The rooms are huge--the one in Anchorage was actually a suite--two bedrooms, bath, walk-in closet, two tables, and a full kitchen. Additionally, they're the only place we stayed with a breakfast instead of just coffee.
As with the others, there was no air conditioning, but while we were there, we needed heat or an extra blanket.
So, if it had all this, why the lower rating? One thing: the electrical system hadn't been updated since it was built (40s or 50s?). Many of the plugs didn't work, there were no USB ports, and despite all the room, we had to hunt for places to charge phones and tablets.
Do I recommend this place? Yes--price is good, room was amazing, breakfast was lovely--but that darned electrical situation makes my recommendation one with caution, especially if you've got children who all have their own devices to charge."
