"I travel to So. Illinois annually to visit but this is my first stay at the Makanda Inn. It will not be my last. I had a very peaceful stay- after long days of family visit and running around with the grands, it was so nice to stay here where it was quiet and relaxing. Breakfast every morning was top notch and just the right portions."

"We could not stay because I had a bad bicycle accident 30 minutes after check in. owner never offered to reschedule since I was in the hospital and could not use the accomodations. My inn keeper was friendly. However the 1st floor was incredibly messy. Surprisingly messy and dusty . I was quite uncomfortable. However our 2nd floor room was clean and tidy. parking was provided. And, it is across from a lovely park and a block away from a famous pretzel shop."
