I booked the duplex with a perfect view of the Speyer Christmas and New Year's Market on main street. Gästehaus Maximilian is the PERFECT spot if you are looking for an authentic small town Germany experience. Just make sure to clearly communicate any special circumstances or requests, if you book in advance. Highly recommended.

Das Personal war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Was wir nicht gut fanden: auf Expedia Hotel mit Parkmöglichkeiten angekreuzt. Es gab nur ein öffentliches Parkhaus und diese Info bekommt man erst wenn man gebucht hat. Finden wir schade und Expedia sollte diese Angabe ändern.

Mit Pkw sehr schlecht erreichbar, vom Haupthaus getrennt, was aus den Angaben nicht klar ersichtlich. Empfangspersonal ziemlich inkompetent (falsche Angaben zu Parkmöglichkeit z.B.). Zimmer aber soweit in Ordnung, sauberes und gutes Bad, allerdings spartanische Möblierung mit kaum Sitzmöglichkeiten, Für Kurzaufenthalt geeignet.

Super für einen kurzen Aufenthalt

Check-In im Café lief schnell und ohne Probleme. Das Gästehaus ist nicht weit vom Café entfernt und hat eine super zentrale Lage. Zimmer war klein aber für zwei Nächte völlig ausreichend. Alles war sauber und in einem guten Zustand. Einzig und allein das Badezimmer mit der Glaswand und nicht richtig schließenden Schwenktür hat uns nicht gefallen. Manchmal wünscht man sich doch etwas mehr Privatsphäre. Aber das scheint in vielen Hotels gerade modern zu sein. Ist Geschmacksache. In allem ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt.

Anreise mit Gepäck wegen der fehlenden Parkplätze etwas unkomfortabel. Dafür zentrale Lage. Ein/Auschecken findet im Café statt. Wenn viel los ist und das Personal gestresst, ist das nicht optimal. Die Sauberkeit im Zimmer war ok. Eine Grundreinigung der verschmierten Glasflächen etc. könnte nicht schaden.

Don’t believe the pictures!

The room was not at the advertised address in the main house on the square, but on the bottom floor of an apartment building on a side street about 200 metres away. Check-in seems to be a sidejob for the people working in the cafe/restaurant Maximilian. And the bed was not the size I got in my conformation. Nobody responsible when check-in starts at 15.
