St Michael's Resort

8/10 Good

"Beautifully situated next to the beach in Falmouth, although it is a shame that a large building obscures much of the sea view. Upon arrival the receptionist was rather brusque, not to say rude, and just barked “surnames” in our direction, which wasn’t very welcoming. The luxury suite with sundeck room was very nice and comfortable with a good shower, great bed and shower. The bar staff were excellent and very friendly. We were dismayed to discover that the spa was not included and a further fee was required for access (the room was £320 for one night) we didn’t want to pay this so went to the heath club pool instead, which was awful. “Family swim” for list of the afternoon meant shrieking kids and splashing. The pool area was rather poorly maintained, with a missing ice bucket etc. The breakfast selection was varied, but the eggs Benedict was rather sad, with a cold muffin and a tiny smear of hollandaise. All in all, it’s good, but could be so much better and very expensive for what it is."

"Good property with excellent breakfast. Very close to Eden Project. Also easy to get to other sights in the vicinity including Fovey & Lanhydrock. Only issue was rooms are cleaned on request. We were told we need to inform them before 10am when we checked in and also there was a notice in the room with same information. However when we first went to request room cleaning at 9am, we were informed by a male receptionist that we were too late as we need to inform them before 9am. So room was not cleaned that day. Thereafter we informed them of any requests before 9am and rooms were cleaned and towels replaced. Otherwise pleased with our stay here despite the extreme heat. There was a fan in the room which helped. The pool was heated and lovely to spend some time swimming."

Great Western Hotel

"We had a lovely short stay at the Great Western, the hotel is a little dated but apparently is currently undergoing a refurbishment The staff were pleasant and polite The bar area was nice and the view from the beer garden is lovely, overlooking the beach The bedroom was a good size, the bathroom was ok and both were spotless The beds were very comfy The bedrooms could do with more plug sockets as there were only 2 and we had to unplug things and swap them around In saying that we would stay there again"

Greenbank Hotel

8/10 Good

"We enjoyed our harbour view room very much. There was always something going on around the harbour. it was quite a long way to the main Falmouth attractions so we ate mostly at the hotel . The food and drink at the hotel was quite pricey but perhaps on a par with other hotels in the area. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The staff were helpful . The surroundings were a bit drab and the outside space quite limited and close to the road. The hotel was in need of decoration in some areas. Overall we enjoyed our stay ."
