"Overall, I had a nice stay at Sugar Bay Barbados. The property itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and has a relaxing atmosphere. My room was clean, comfortable, and nicely kept, and the staff were generally pleasant and welcoming.
There were, however, a few things that kept the experience from being perfect.
The biggest disappointment was the beach. The sand had quite a bit of sargassum washed up along the shoreline, and I think the beach could benefit from more frequent cleaning and maintenance. The beach itself is beautiful, so keeping the shoreline cleaner would make a big difference.
The Wi-Fi was also extremely unreliable. The connection was often slow or difficult to use, which was frustrating, especially when trying to stay connected or make plans.
As an all-inclusive resort, I also expected a little more variety when it came to the food. The dining options felt somewhat limited, with relatively few choices compared with other all-inclusive resorts. That said, the food that was available was actually very good and flavorful, so the quality was there — I just would have liked more variety.
Another minor issue was the strong smell of bug repellent in the elevators. There seemed to be a very potent smell of insect repellent present in the elevators throughout the stay. I understand the need for pest control, especially in a tropical environment, but the smell was quite strong and could be unpleasant when using the elevators.
Overall, Sugar Bay is a nice resort."
