We had a great one bedroom with functional kitchen, and great balcony with ocean view. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the facilities are well kept and convenient. Beach and beach access is top notch, and the immediate area is walkable and has everything from local fare and friendly bars to high energy nightlife. Only recommendations for Southern Palms would be improve the gym facility, and have a more reasonable price for the breakfast buffet.

The room was spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view. The facilities and service were excellent and the Hotel was conveniently situated between the beach and St.Lawrence Gap. We could have happily spent longer here.

Lovely hotel on beachside.

Great property, staff friendly in general. Lovely gardens, 2 pools and a wonderful beach. Good facilities. Some bathrooms may need updating but it all works.

One evening pre cruise stay. GREAT location in the Gap. Great breakfast right across street. Walked to Harlequin for a fabulous dinner. Like beachfront with a bit of throwback? This is the place!

The hotel itself is very nice but older. The view from our room had a beautiful beach view. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed their breakfast à la carte but also enjoyed the various restaurants nearby such as Rebel Burger, Happy Days and the jamacian place. It was nice when they offered tea time everyday at 4pm with various pastries as well as coffee. I loved the location to the beach and to St. Lawrence Gap. The only thing that I was not prepared for was the LOUD karaoke which was every night nearby in the Gap. The walls are thin and you can hear it very clearly until midnight or so.If you are a light sleeper, I would consider other options. It was very hard to get rest at night which was frustrating since we were looking forward to a relaxing vacation. Other than that the hotel is very nice with many activities. I just wish it wasn’t so noisy at night.

Wr’ve stayed at various hotels and resorts over the last 15 years visiting Barbados, so we are very happy to rate this place as highly as we have. A really beautiful setting, food was delicious, room was spacious and clean. Well equipped kitchenette; fabulous view over a pretty courtyard. All in all, a really lovely spot for our little family.

An amazing place for a tropical vacation. Ocean side dining is incredible. Staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and always smiling. Our room view was absolutely spectacular. The front desk was helpful to make reservations and schedule rides. Every night there was live entertainment. The beach was beautiful and bonus was watching sea turtles. Can’t wait to go back.

The hotel was on the beach lovely big rooms Close to bars and restaurants The food was good nice touches of afternoon tea and cold water on tap Able to borrow snorkels body boards Curtesy room was great to shower and get ready for the flight back home The only thing it would have been nice to have sunbeds on the beach the sun gets very intense and a bit of shade would have nice Although the palm trees did help

There was a cockroach in our room, but only one. The bed was very small and uncomfortable. The rooms are very outdated but clean. The beach is beautiful, and the view from our room was outstanding. Their gift shop is a must-visit.

It’s likely on one of the most stunning beaches anywhere. The staff and traditional style make this place. They treated us like gold and were very welcoming. Lots of food options around. Rooms are traditional. The water pressure and bathrooms could use an update, but over all everything is well maintained. I look forward to returning someday soon!

Great stay! Staff were beyond friendly/ helpful. My room was within steps from the beach. It was amazing. My only complaint was there was no warm shower water (only cold). It seemed to be that way in the entire resort. Otherwise amazing

Disappointing

This property needs some attention. It is quite run down, and was probably very nice when first built, but not much attention to maintenance recently. Lots of evidence of repairs in the walls and ceiling, worn out furniture and linens. Plumbing caused a great deal of stress ( toilet flushing was unreliable, water pressure limited, pipes making lots of noises). Bed was comfortable, staff pleasant and the restaurant was pretty good. Nice beach but due to winds and wave conditions we could not venture into the water even knee deep due to undertow. For the price expected better quality overall.

Hotel has a fantastic location on a beautiful beach with lots of turtles in the sea. Rooms very large and clean, although somewhat dated and could do with a refurb. Good facilities with 2 pools which were never crowded and sun beds on the beach. The key thing which really lets the hotel down is incredibly slow and chaotic service in the bar and getting drinks by the pool. It could take up to 30 mins to get served and equally slow getting the bill. It didn’t help that a new billing system was being implemented whilst we were there which either didn’t work or staff weren’t adequately trained as half the time they were resorting to hand-writing bills. If they can sort out the service and refresh the rooms this could easily be a 5 star experience as the location and facilities are superb.

The people who work at Southern Palms are amazing! They take good care of you at the restaurant and the front desk staff and bellmen were excellent. The view is wonderful and it's so convenient to be right on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. However, the NOISE from across the street!! We booked through Expedia and were given a horrible little room at the back of the property that was a stone's throw from a little square across the street with a couple of restaurants, one of which had live music until almost midnight. It was deafening in our room. The walls are also paper thin and you can hear the guests in neighboring rooms. Perhaps the other side of the property is quieter...?? There were also little ants around our bathroom sink. I guess the key is to book directly with the hotel; they seem to reserve the not-so-nice rooms for those who book through a 3rd party.

We loved our stay at Southern Palms! The resort was in a perfect location, being on the beach and also in the Gap. It was quiet (no noise from the Gap), had a great atmosphere, two pools to enjoy, great staff and was very clean. We ate at the restaurant twice and the staff were able to accommodate my allergy. We also got advice on what to do on the island and staff were able to help us in booking a driver for two days. The app was also very helpful to access menus ahead of time and know what events were happening each day. We would definitely stay here again!
