We booked a one bedroom apartment, which we’d stayed in before. At check in we were given a room, where the bed was in the main area alongside the kitchen. The living area was a separate corner room containing a sofa and writing desk, and nothing else. Nothing like the apartment we stayed in before, and not what was advertised or booked. Reception changed it, but tried to convince me that it was a ‘standard’ one bedroom apartment and that they were now upgrading us to a ‘large’ one instead. I suggest the staff make themselves familiar with the rooms and with what is being advertised on their own website - one glance at the room descriptions would tell them all they need to know!
The one bedroom apartment we were eventually given was actually the same one we stayed in almost exactly a year ago. However, it reeked of curry, and we had to buy air fresheners to mask the overpowering smell.
The kickboard at the bottom of the kitchen cupboard units had fallen off and was lying on the floor. There was dried food waste stuck to the floor in the living area and in the bedroom, as well as a sticky residue next to the sofa. All suggesting the room had not been adequately cleaned.
This was the third time we stayed in this hotel, and the 6th time in the Biz Apartment chain. All of our previous stays have been outstanding. However this experience, combined with the general demeanour of the staff (which was dour at best) will make us think twice before staying again.
