"Hotel has seen recent updates. I feel as if they are not keeping up on the property or rooms. We had have stayed in the past and our stay was pleasant and the room was nice. This time around I feel as if they are lacking on their upkeep and cleanliness of the property. Our room this time around was not to bad other than the window was open with no way to close. I had mentioned this to the front desk on Saturday morning and they assured me that maintenance would repair while we were out during the day. This did not happen. Overall, the stay was alright. Just wish they would have been able to fix the window as this was a concern for many reasons. I would give them another try."

"Wonderful stay at LaQuinta Ankeny Iowa. Great room, wonderful staff good breakfast. Our only negative comment would be about the beds. My wife and I are both octogenarians and getting in and out of the bed was a major challenge. We ended up asking the staff for some kind of stool to help us get into the bed. As most hotel rooms now have the higher beds, it was not totally unexpected, but this bed was exceptionally high. I wish hotels would take older patrons needs when deciding to replace their beds. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay. Would recommend to our friends and family members. A special shout out to Heather at the front desk who was very helpful in a situation that arose. She handled everything with professionalism and kindness. Thank you Heather."

"The room was clean but sparce - no bathroom soap (used shower gel bottle), nothing extra, stains on furniture but clean enough. Hotel was in okay condition, area was somewhat industrial and other clientele was a bit shady. Breakfast was very sparce also. Surprised this hotel is still open but could've been much worse. Didn't go into the pool area or workout area (if there was one). Just used to sleep while visiting Ames. "
