"It looks like just a split-level house, but Mr. and Mrs. Deal have turned it into a lovely oasis for visitors. They recommended Sofia's for lunch, an easy mile walk, and the food there is amazing. Mrs. Deal very kindly agreed to hold most of our luggage while we did a train ride to Seward for an overnight stay. She even put together a perfect brown bag breakfast since we were leaving so early. "The place was adequate for 2 nights in Anchorage. Our room was in the basement. There’s a window so we had natural light. No AC but a fan in the window. The room was very clean. The bathroom was unusual with a step going to the toilet and shower. Made for a little uneasy feeling since I get up during the night. The kitchen was stocked. "This is an amazing hotel. The front desk clerks were very kind and friendly. The lobby was inviting. The rooms were very clean. The breakfast attendant was unbelievably alert to everything that was going on. I’ve never seen such care and concern that everyone had what they needed. The grandkids loved the pool. The hotel is very close to the airport which was great for us! I would stay here again in a heartbeat."

"The hotel is actually old and tired compared to the photos online. The staff was nice enough and the airport shuttle was actually pretty good. We didn’t have a car because we were getting back from a cruise. so we were told of a couple restaurants in the area to walk to and the convenience store nearby . we came across several homeless people and never threatened directly but a very uncomfortable feeling just walking around. Actually quite sad to see people in that situation."

"Check in was extremely slow. Each group ahead of us took 15 minutes each. We only booked this hotel due to it having a kitchen. The pictures include a 2 burner induction stove top. The room had cabinets and draws but not 1 utensil, pot, pan, plate, bowl or anything to cook or eat with. Was told but the front desk that this is because they have no way to sanitize. The listing for the hotel is very misleading. My 1 night stay should be refunded."

"We only stayed one night and had an early flight, so admittedly limited exposure to the hotel. Hotel itself had a very strong, permeating odor of the hotel laundry services, atleast on the first floor. Despite our room being a down the hall and around a corner from the laundry services, all we could smell was chemical laundry odors. The room itself appeared to have been cleaned without attention to detail, as we found a candy wrapper under the bed and hair in the tub/shower. The front desk staff...

"Well it’s a cheap dump. It was quiet however the window didn’t have a screen so the mosquitoes wanted to come in- had to close the window. This place is cheap- location is safe - no real amenities- if you want a blow dryer go get one from the front desk. I don’t believe I would ever stay here again- it was a place to crash while traveling around Alaska"

"We stayed 4 nites 5 days, payed $400/ nite and never saw a housekeeper tho they did somehow come in & replace coffee n a few towels as well as empty garbage occasionally, not every day. We had to fetch coffee supplies regularly. I just find it hard to believe you pay this much and get so little. We were also given a ADA accessible unit which we did not ask for.
