Was spoken to with no respect when checking in & was not given a room to the standard or description I’d selected.
I’d selected & paid for a superior room & the staff member checking me in seemed extremely uncooperative & didn’t seem very welcoming or respectful.
When mentioning my Expedia gold member status & the perks included I was told they didn’t apply & had to read them out from my booking confirmation.
The staff member who checked me in had to confirm this with management leaving myself & partner hanging about waiting.
I was also asked to pay at the desk to which I responded it’s already paid for, the check in was a nightmare.
Other staff members were polite & helpful especially a night staff member who assisted us with access back into the hotel late at night & provided us with extra things we needed for the bathroom.
Overall I love the traditional theme of the hotel & the link to the history of the area & the railway. The rooms are named after local railway stations from the area & the historic West Somerset Railway. Historic items & fittings are on display. I think the hotel has a great future & is spacious & comfortable.
