"I really wanted to give this place high reviews, but unfortunately the great pluses this property has (amazing location right on the water and views) are negated by an overzelous and controling owner. Prepared to be scolded, warned and admonished for many things a paying costumer would not in other stablishments. I.e. do not take the kayak out in the beautiful bay because it could be damaged by the coral..are u serious? Why have a kayak on the property if it cant be used. Or, dont leave the AC...

"I stayed here because it's close to the airport, and I thought I could walk, but it's too dangerous to walk - you pretty much have to take a taxi, which is $20 each way from the airport. Also, I thought they had a cafe or something there, but there is no food (just a vending cooler), so if I'm paying $20 each way to get here, I'd probably stay somewhere else for the price. "

"Great breakfast— large buffet at about $30 per person Grounds lovely and well taken care of. Rooms large. Pool nice. Access to the beach not easy , seemed like a steep drop off. The water wasn’t inviting. Would recommend but not for beach."

"We were only here one night, so it was sufficient. There was no hot water at all when we showered. There is also no pool here, so not much to do other than walk around. We got there at 11:00 & were told they could check with housekeeping, but it was 50% of the room rate to check in early, so we didn’t! We did get in around 2:00 though! The front desk staff was super helpful & friendly. "

"Checkout was very very long! Order your taxi in advance and it goes by room number or name for that I almost missed my ferry because of the long checkout process. The hotel is beautiful, the room I had with the bathroom clear wall that blinds you when your sleeping if your mate goes to the washroom, is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. "We had a long layover so we decided to book a hotel near the airport. Communication before arrival was excellent and they responded quickly to our questions.. We arrived in the evening and later then expected due to a flight delay. Even with the delay, they had a shuttle waiting to pick us up. They also took us to the airport very easily in the morning the next day. Very pleased with the staff at the Lodge."

She did a great job to prepare my husband surprise present. The room was spotless the restaurant was great. The bar was fun,many nights were live music on. "The hotel appears to be fairly new. The room smelt of fresh paint, clean and a good size. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom and kitchenette area was a good size. The location is approximately 15 minute taxi drive from the airport, which was perfect, especially with an early morning flight. The only disappointment is no onsite restaurant. "Property was nice but definitely an older property. Run down. Needs a face lift and upgrade. We upgraded to the premium room and it was just ok. It was 2 stories which’s worked for us but probably should have been noted. It was kinda inconvenient having the 2 nd floor, getting the suitcases up there and constantly going up and down. "The resort was above and beyond our expectations. The breakfast buffet was outstanding - especially the fresh pastries and the omelette bar manned by Heinz. The snorkeling right off shore was fabulous. If we ever are able to return to Moorea, we will definitely stay at the Sofitel Kia Ora again!"

"Great place to stay in town. Center of everything and I’m front of the ferries. Stayed there twice during my time in Papeete. Got the cabin bunk for a solo traveler no complaints communal showers outside that separates men and woman. Easy place for easy travelers. "
