"First time stay at this place… If you are looking for a unique experience rather than a regular hotel, the Chalet is the place. The Chalet is pet friendly. I traveled with my small dog and enjoyed having a lot of room in this tiny cabin. I had my own parking space. The Chalet is walking distance to all the shopping on the main drag. Dollar General is next door and the Dakota Mart across the road. There is a small refrigerator in the cabin and they offer take and go breakfast. I plan on staying...

"The staff were not friendly"

"It was close to our area of travel and reasonably priced. Main building was very nice that contained the office and breakfast area/lounge. Room was tighter than expected and would be very hard to accommodate 4 adults (we had 3 of us) with luggage and two queen beds in a small cabin. We did lose hot water on our second morning."

"We enjoyed our stay! The room was clean and well stocked with items we needed, including a mini fridge and microwave, great for a late snack with our leftovers. The staff gave great advice on places to eat - We enjoyed Ruby House for steak and baked potatoes. Food and shopping was conveniently within walking distance. And of course, short driving distance to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse. We plan on a return trip. Thank you to the morning and evening staff. Very friendly."

Lots of instruction posted inside the cabin regarding potential additional charges for items damaged or missing upon checkout. Made us feel like we had to be extremely cautious with anything we used during our stay.
