"Situated in a lovely area of the Sussex Downs this small country pub provided ideal accommodation for our visit to Glyndbourne. Clean, simple but well appointed accommodation, with a good breakfast provided in the morning. Long Man Best Ale in cask available at the bar, which was a treat."

"Have stayed in 4 hotels and B&B’s in Eastbourne and this is by far and away the best one I’ve stayed in. Victorian features, stain glass windows combined with a modern style. Breakfast choices were eggcelent with proper sausages and bacon, the “house” scrambled eggs was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was a bonus as that area of Eastbourne can be tricky to find spaces to park at night. Would definitely stay at The New England again."

"The staff were amazing from the front desk Darcy and mum to the night porter, who could not do enough for us brilliant. Would recommend to all ages and jealous that we’re not still there. Carnival was great; only thing is if you’re down for this event next year, find parking first early, as it’s at a premiere. Massive shout out again to all. 👍😘"

"È un albergo rimasto fermo a 40 anni fa. Come mobilio e come strutture comuni. I bagni, ad esempio, sono minuscoli e certe camere hanno le docce con l’entrata a 20 centimetri dal water. Non c’è l’aria condizionata ma un ventilatore e la finestra non si può aprire perché entrano i gabbiani! Però è pulito, il personale è gentile e fa di tutto per mettervi a vostro agio, la sala da pranzo è funzionale e ben arredata, la posizione è ottima, i prezzi sono bassi. "We knowingly booked a small room. The room itself was clean and decent enough. It was an extremely hot day so could have done with A/C or at least a better fan than that provided. The bathroom was too tiny to be practical. There was no shelf in the tiny shower and there was not enough room to bend down and pick shower gel off the floor. Overall the price was very reasonable so we were not expecting the world. Staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable."

"Stayed at the Grand many times. This time we felt things weren’t to the usual standard. Close to our room the area was being decorated. There were signs apologising but we did wonder, given that the hotel didn’t appear to be ‘to capacity’ why we couldn’t be in an area not being decorated. We were also never far from the noise of pigeons in our room which wasn’t great. At breakfast, we are usually asked if we want anything over and above the buffet. "The hotel just next to the beach, beautiful view from the window although the windows can’t be opened, room are clean and bed are comfortable. Limited amenities such as toiletries (toothpaste, bins) no telephone in the room, no fan as well but it’s ok for the price it’s offered. Feedback for the key - it’s quite diffuse to lock the door, we need to figure it out how to lock the door, may be making more simple?. "The room was spacious but dated. Everything worked but was worn. The bed was 2 bed frames stuck together with a king size mattress on top. Firm sleep - not the most comfortable. Quiet property and the man running it was nice and helpful. It was cheap and cheerful and suited me ok, but would not take my wife. Location is great. 1 block from the beach and a short walk from the town centre. Overall happy with the visit."

"Room was dirty, window and terrace filthy, however the downstairs lounges, bar and dining rooms were good. Anyone can see the hotel needs a good clean overall."

"Incredible location across from the beach. Room was spacious and had a view of the beach and the pier. These older buildings don’t have AC but a fan was provided as was a small portable fridge. We didn’t try the bar or restaurant so we can’t rate those. We forgot some important items in our room on checkout and the staff were amazing. They contacted us right away when they found the items and offered to have a staff member deliver them to us. Really helpful."
