High levels of evaporation have left behind natron (sodium carbonate decahydrate) hence the name. Located near Ngorngoro Crater and Lake Natron, the towering volcano, Ol Doinyo Lengai (translated to Mountain of God) towers over the Maasai village that I was fortunate enough to live in for a week. The domas in the foreground are constructed entirely of mud, manure, sticks, and straw. A beautiful, harsh environment.

Walking some off-the-beaten-paths around Usa River in Tanzania. The scenery is amazing, with Mt. Meru in the background, almost everywhere. Sometimes one can see the mighty Kilimanjaro as well, or so I hear. Warm and nice, but bit hazy weather as the rain season is about to start.
