Esta fortaleza é de origem islâmica e foi construída para servir de entrada e proteção da Ponte Romana. Encontra-se do lado esquerdo do rio Guadalquivir. Hoje tem instalado nela o Museu Vivo de al-Ándalus que mostra a convivência das culturas cristã, muçulmana e judaica do século  IX ao século XIII. Faz parte do Centro Histórico de Córdoba que é considerado Patrimônio Histórico pela UNESCO.

This fortress is of Islamic origin and was built to serve as entrance and protection of the Roman Bridge. It is on the left side of the river Guadalquivir. Today it has installed in it the Living Museum of al-Ándalus that shows the coexistence of Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures from the 9th to the 13th century. It is part of the Historic Center of Cordoba which is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
