"Decent sized room (stayed in deluxe double) for 2 nights. Admittedly didn’t feel particularly deluxe as the furniture was old and it felt a little tired. Clean enough but could do with a refurb. Car charging onsite was handy and good location without being stuck in city centre."

"The location of the hotel is perfectly placed to walk into York town centre. On arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful and allowed us to check in early. Our room was small but very clean with a comfortable bed, the shower was particularly nice. The common areas were beautifully decorated and spacious."

"Absolutely beautiful house and weathering pretty well considering age and National Trust status. Quirky and very comfortable but not contemporary so don’t expect gleaming and modern. That’s the absolute beauty of this place and we loved it. The staff were fabulous and service was outstanding. House and grounds superb. Special birthday treat and will recommend until the cows come home! Well situated for York and a wonderful way to embrace history with this wonderful house. Fabulous!"

"Management didn't think about the impact of the hot weather as the room was so hot and they supplied a tiny fan that did nothing to cool the room. Lots of spots in the hotel needs updating or repairing. Both the staff and the leisure amenities were great."
