  • Hever Castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII. The castle went through a number of owners since the Boleyn family after passing to the Crown on the death of Anne's father, Thomas Boleyn . In 1903 it was acquired by William Waldorf Astor, an American millionaire, who restored it in Tudor style using, as far as possible, the same tools as Tudor craftsmen. The extensive castle grounds are beautiful in summer, and include a rose garden which is lovely in full bloom. Definitely worth a visit for history-lovers and nature-lovers alike. Highlights include Anne Boleyn's bedroom and the collection of portraits of Henry VIII and his six wives.

A lovely place to stay

Debra and Drew were very welcoming hosts. We used The Barn as a lauch pad to visit Chartwell and Knole. Perfect choice. The accommodation was beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. We were spoilt for choice regarding local eateries. We chose The White Hart for dinner and it was top knotch.

Such a nice location to stay at, as a solo traveler! Owners were friendly, helpful with information on local areas, and gave great advice on places to visit and enjoy meals. Additionally, hands-down, the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on at a BnB. Great mattress and sheets were nice and crisp High-quality experience, all around!

An excellent place to stay

The Barn is separate from the house which is ideal and means you don't disturb the owners when coming back late. Decor is lovely and the spacious seating area is perfect, much better than just having a small bedroom to unwind in at the end of a long day. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower fantastic. The road noise is considerable outside but inside you barely notice it so it won't disturb your sleep. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast in the main house was excellent (although not the traditional full English). Parking is at the back of the barn behind a secure gate. Highly recommend this venue.

A Little Gem

The welcome could not have been better. The accommodation was good. Clean and carefully thought out. If you were just wanting a base it was very good. Being Winter it was very warm both morning and evening. The breakfast was exceptional and they couldn't have been more accommodating. The only downside was the shower was not very powerful, and when we had people above it was a bit noisy.

A very comfortable place to stay. Tucked away from the road, the accommodation on the first floor of the barn was spacious, clean and quiet. The heating is very good, and the bathroom large and modern. Drew and Debra were friendly and attentive hosts, and Drew kindly gave us suggestions for nearby dinner options - we chose The Little Brown Jug, a short drive away and enjoyed a great meal. The beautifully cooked English breakfast provided by Debra was delicious too. Highly recommended!
