The room was small but everything was clean. It smelled of smoke and perfume. The power plugs were all loose. Excellent position. Breakfast was poor.
The room I stayed in, I found the toilet broken and unable to flush it. I had asked housekeeping and they already knew about the toilet but put me in that room anyway. They did get someone to fix the second day. In the bathroom/floor was a bit dirty, it turned my socks black. The plug socket next to the bed was also faulty falling out of the wall and there was no plug for the bath. The lift also broke the second day so 5 flights of stairs to take luggage. The staff were friendly though and aside from the issues was a nice hotel with balcony.
The room was comfortable, could do with a fridge in it. The bathroom (shower) was very small and tight and difficult to shower in. Bed was comfortable, had a tv with limited channels. Very handy to train station and within walking distance to water front and cafes and bars
I'm eating this five stars, but I do have some specific caveats that won't mean much to many people. The hotel is excellent. It's located between the train station and road where many buses stop, and much of the city of Toulon is walkable from here.
My main caveat was about the WiFi. It's fast but restricted in some very specific ways, and a little unreliable in poor weather too. For most people this'll be fine, it's good enough to mitigate the dent in your roaming data. But I found myself unable to join audio calls via Discord, unable to to play multiplayer games on my laptop, and unable to connect to my VPN for more secure use. My job is to make trailers for video games, so I don't expect this to affect many people. But if you need to do some work in a laptop whilst here, you may end up bumping up against these odd limitations.
With all that said, I'd recommend this hotel wholeheartedly. It's priced like an IBIS but it's a lot less anonymous, with friendly and helpful staff and clean rooms. I recommend a room with a terrace, they're not much more expensive than a regular room. I really enjoyed the extra space and the view.
The hotel was less than 10 minutes from the train station and at most 15 minutes to get to the harbor where a lot of restaurants are located. So very easy to from for train or food. The hotel is also close to Place Libertie where many of the buses have stops. Convenient location.
The staff.
I booked this room, without any expectations l, based oh the proximity to the port and the train station and the moderate price. I would recommend this hotel based on the friendly, knowledgeable, kind staff.
The room is small but I had everything I needed.
A small gem ..mostly quiet with a few guest slamming doors or crying kids ..but great view, location , and nice simple breakfast ..ask for 02 rooms they look west at corner only problem was microwave was locked up need access.no frig ....it has an elevator of which other three older hotels do not . Has a survey .
..
Personal denied support when the elevator went broken and I asked the reception boy to help me move my luggage down the stare case.
Instead of hearing 'sorry for the inconvenience WE have caused' and being supported, I had to beg and explain my health conditions.
That felt outright ugly.
It was a simple room, with few outlets but OK. The biggest problem was that I had a spectacular wipeout in the bathroom. It was partially my fault as I didn't use the towel bath mat, but the floor was extremely slippery as there was no separation between shower and the rest of the bathroom floor (no barrier to the water). I advised the hotel that they should coat the floor with some slip-resistance coating. When the WiFi didn't work the second day, the front desk gave me another network which worked.
