"This was our second stay at this historic, lovely & comfortable inn. Our room #2 had a king size bed & a separate sitting area which could have accommodated another adult or small kids on a foldout cot in the closet. Furnished with a mix of contemporary & vintage furniture. Very clean. Showers have great water pressure. The mini breakfast in the inn’s bar/restaurant includes delicious homemade muffins. The restaurant is open for dinner—only on Thursdays & Fridays at present. The area is semi rural but located near Montgomery Center, St Alban’s & Enosburg where there are restaurants & other amenities like the Eloquent Page Bookstore, worth a visit for the book lover. Six wooden covered bridges to explore in the area; at one of them we even met a 5th generation descendant of the original bridge builders, the Jewett brothers. The Black Lantern Inn is a wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing getaway. Definitely recommend 👍"

"Lots of antiques and like a step back in time. The old fashioned lodge on the lake. SHARED bathroom in hallways. Can hear people in the room next door. Creepy bed. Just know it’s eclectic. Continental breakfast. Host is super friendly. I loved it but my 26 year old doesn’t appreciate the old things as much. "

"A wonderful glamping experience! Everything is clean, comfortable, easy and the owners are super friendly/attentive. The place is fairly remote but if you’re looking for a friendly quiet getaway, I highly recommend it. Also the restaurant onsite makes the whole experience that much better!"

"It was quiet, charming in a rustic way, Very clean, and with lots of attention from Kris, the on-site property manager. We were right on Lake Willoughby and it was absolutely gorgeous. There's not a lot to do in the area in the fall / winter, but we wanted just to go and relax, and we did that! It was perfect for us. We stayed in cabin number one, the original log cabin, and as one might expect it had a bit of a draft - but fresh air is a good thing when it's offset by a good heating system! The Wi-Fi was weak /slow but we didn't care because the AT&T cell service was just fine, and we accessed the internet that way or used a hotspot. We enjoyed some really good food at the Gap, a local restaurant, and the foliage color was just spectacular.. If you're not concerned about having everything look "modern", then I would say this is a perfect place for a getaway! We might even try it sometime for a family vacation, as there are many small cottages in one place the lakeshore."
