"This was a charming little place very close to the river, restaurants and shopping and just a short walk to the subway. Check-in was easy, staff was nice and the rooms were well-designed, cozy and clean. The price was very reasonable and we would definitely return. "

"Great host and communication. The house is cozy and it had everything we needed. The air conditioning was great in the Japanese heatwave. In just under 10 minutes, you can walk to some of the nicest streets in Kyoto with temples and cafes.
However, everything around there closes quite early and becomes really quiet - so be aware if it’s not your vibe. Not a big deal for me, though.
The only real issue is that the property is not very accessible: the closest bust stop is about 15 min away and...

"Perfect location. Easy access to train station, Lawsons and 7-11 and dining/shopping options. Rooms are bigger than expected. Hotel is very modern with self checking in-out. Staff are the best. I went to the front desk to asked about a hairdryer. Staff could have easily told me where to find it but instead she walked me to my room on the 9th floor and showed me where to find it. We both left and I waved her in to join us in the elevator but she took the stairs instead so there would be room for other guests. Highly recommend this hotel. Would stay here again. "
"The hotel is very nice and the staff is attentive and nice. The rooms are clean and bright. Everyone on staff greets you as you pass them. If you have any questions they are there to assist. I had a very good stay. The only advice I have is if to make dinner plans ahead of time because some places close early or fill up quickly and you don’t want to scramble to find dinner. "
"We were so impressed and grateful for this hotel! It’s honestly perfect in every way. From quiet and spacious rooms, incredible ambiance, impeccable cleanliness, delicious food, every convenience for our stay, and a short walk to everything in Gion as well as the train. The shower and bath is something we will miss (until we renovate our home to match!). I couldn’t recommend this place more. "
"The location is amazing! You have 7-11, a grocery store and a Family mart besides or close to the hotel! Also, the hotel has a train station underneath it which helps tremendously during this trip. The staff has been helpful and welcoming as well! I recommend the hotel! "
"We were upgraded to a fabulous Suite.
Really extra special with all the trappings.
Keep in mind this hotel IS NOT, in the CBD, but in an area that is quiet and has few conveniences right around the close proximity
But the Hotel is Grand and the Staff is Top Rated."
"We LOVED our stay at Smile Hotel. It is our first time in Japan. From the services and amenities, everything was EXCEPTIONAL. We loved the helpful staff, even though they were not speaking english, we manage to communicate with the translator. I forgot an adapter for my laptop and I needed one as I was writing a final exam during my stay and they lended me one. I also needed a ethernet cable and I found one when I arrived.
For western residents wondering about the bed sizes, we are a chubby couple and their double bed was more than enough for both of us.
They have laundry with auto-detergent (meaning you don't need to add detergent as it has itself), they can provide you an iron at the front desk. I’ll just say that if you have any question about something you may need, don’t hesitate to ask them, they will answer you and if they can they will definitely help you too :)
Thank you so much! We are looking forward to staying with you again! ❤️"
"We had a fantastic stay in a spacious and spotless room that offered unforgettable panoramic views of the Tokyo skyline. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, with an incredible variety of high-quality Western and Japanese options. Best of all, the hotel's central location near Shinjuku Station made exploring the city effortless."
