Hotel was tired, Staff were helpful and friendly but service was slow. We last came about 10 years ago when it was all service now very much do it yourself at breakfast. Value for money was ok Choice of evening meal food was small, very good but would off struggled to choose 3 nights in the run. .

We had a great stay here from start to finish. The room was stunning and the spa facilities were nice. The views onto the lake are gorgeous and every meal we had was great too. The hotel is right next to where a cruise departs from to go to Bowness which was lovely too. I would really recommend a stay here.

It was very clean and lovely staff and the view of the lake from our window was excellent, but other than that it was just a standard 4 Star hotel and not worth 217.00 pounds per night. The breakfast was ok but after our evening meal we were charged 10% service fee on top and a 5 pound tray charge, I assume that was for carrying the food out from the kitchen, I had them deducted it off the bill when we checked out. I think I was hoping for something special but it wouldn't

The rooms were spacious and the staff were all very kind and helpful. The hotel is a car ride or ferry ride away from local shops, eateries and tours which made for a quiet stay but was also an added cost for when we wanted to go exploring. The beds were very comfortable. When our Uber failed to show the hotel staff helped us with finding a taxi. Drawbacks include showers that did not always have good water pressure and toilets that did not flush reliably. The restaurants were very busy. As guests of the hotel we would have appreciated priority when making reservations for lunch and dinner.

Cannot fault this place, must be one of the best places to stay in the lake district. Plenty of parking, it's spotlessly clean, brilliant location on the bank of Windermere. Plenty to do with boats trips, the lake aquarium and steam railway there. The team there are fantastic, friendly and really helpful, I'd definitely go again.

Nice hotel in a lovely setting. Our lakeside view double room was very spacious and comfortable but a little bit dated. With only one window it made the room very dark and the room lighting options weren’t very good. You had to have every light on in order to look in the wardrobe or use the vanity table , which made the room far too bright. The bathroom was ok but needed hooks on the back of the door to hang wet towels or Bath robes . Food and drink at the hotel was very expensive and over priced for what it was. The spa facilities and swimming pool were modern and in good order and my daughter was delighted with the Swedish massage that you had. The biggest problem that we had was the poor facilities at the hotel for charging electric cars. I have a hybrid car which needed charging every day but the hotel wanted £25 per day to use their charger. I fully charged my car in a town car park for £6 which is about the going rate for public chargers but was very inconvenient as it meant we had to stay in one place for too long. I would have preferred to charge overnight at the hotel. The hotel needs to install two or three charging points from one of the many companies that now supply them or get the council to install public charging points in the two public car parks at the front of the hotel. The one I used at the car park in Grassmere operated by Fuuse was very good and I would recommend it. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Lakeside and the staff were friendly & helpful.

Older hotel with some renovated rooms (which are lovely). Great sized pool with very warm water. Changing rooms in the evening were out of shower gel and full of wet towels. Lockers had keys but no wrist bands so no easy way of storing them. The pool has selected hours that children can use it and these are currently morning or after 4pm. Great location but the hotel doesn’t own the car park and its free parking behind the adjacent aquarium. You get a ticket from the hotel put in your window. The room we had (junior suite) was gorgeous. Great shower and comfortable bed. Kids beds (sofa chair beds) were less comfortable and one mattress was still wrapped in thick plastic, bit strange and could’ve been a risk to a small child? Staff at the hotel were mixed, some helpful, others seemed unhappy. Often long waits at reception whilst the staff were on the phone taking bookings. Shame they didn’t do table service in the conservatory out the back opposite the lake. Would have been lovely to have tea and cake here or an evening cocktail but you could get drinks yourself from the pub the other side of reception. Games room for kids was good but pool table was broken with balls falling on the floor every time they were potted! I saw that in another review about a year ago! Breakfast was plentiful and good. Dinner at the brasserie less so with very average and overpriced food, and surly servers. Housekeeping - 4pm and still nothing so had to chase, think we’d been forgotten.

Lovely hotel in a fabulous setting. The staff were really nice and could not do enough to make you feel welcome. The food on the main restaurant was excellent but the brasserie was poor (pub food at hotel prices and poorly presented). Overall we would highly recommend the hotel. Unfortunately Expedia cooked up the booking in the wrong name but the hotel staff soon sorted it out.

From the momment wearrivedseeing this wonderful hotel sat on the banks of Windermere i think we knew we had picked a great place to stay It didnt disappoint.from the momment we checked in the staff we really helpful,our room was excellent very clean and well maintained and was perfect. The location both of our room and the hotel really couldn't have been any better and I must say the gardeners do an excellent job keeping it looking so colourful. Both breakfast and dinner were really great and prompt polite service was always given and the staff always helpful. We will look forward to another visit.

Such a relaxing stay! Huge room with comfortable beds and plentiful tea and coffee facilities - especially nice local touch using Herdy mugs. Spa and pool were very nice, and lovely outdoor spaces to relax right on the lake. Would have loved more time to spend a lazy afternoon in the cosy surroundings getting lost in a book. Good cooked breakfast, my husband especially enjoyed the smoked haddock and poached eggs. Would love to come back and stay longer next time!

Not really disability friendly, few grab handles in the shower, very small lowdown fridge requiring almost hands and knees to see contents. Two separate lifts placed side by side at one side of the building ( why ? ) Very limited access for Rollator, walker users although staff do their best to help. Very large and comfortable bed, great flat screen telly with good reception no aircon in room but decent fan supplied for hot weather. food ok and good level of cleanliness. Would go again bearing these comments in mind.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel so much I intend to return. The hotel, the gardens and its location on edge of Lake Windermere are wonderful. Fortunately for us the heat wave that affected the country at the end of May meant that we didn’t use the car but instead relaxed in the beautiful gardens, went on short walks or just watched the steamers come and go from the nearby landing. In the early morning sunshine the calmness of the lake is simply magical. Less complimentary reviews that said the place was ‘tired’ and in need of updating are unfounded in my opinion and given that it was originally a 17th century coach house that has been extended over the years makes it more appealing. The ‘green’ credentials of the hotel are also to be applauded - I noticed some rewilding with a wild flower meadow, a bug hotel and beehives. I can’t say I’ve ever seen those at other hotels.

The location is amazing and the staff are wonderful- really friendly and helpful. The spa is good and breakfast is lovely too. However, the evening restaurant food is poor and basically very overpriced low quality pub food. The restaurant is the most not letdown, otherwise a wonderful hotel and stay.

The room wasn’t in the best condition - old bathroom and old furniture but was fairly quiet at least. Not many gluten free options on the menu but grateful there was more than most places. The chips were still hard with the fish & chips unfortunately. Great little gym and love the sauna & steam room. Would be helpful if you had a bin outside as I end up carrying rubbish from my car up to the room.

It is a lovely property on a great location. It works like a well oiled machine until you ask for something out of the ordinary. Porridge made with normal milk was too challenging I felt. Yes they would be showing the England match - so we cancelled our booking elsewhere. Then they didn’t show it.
