Great area for restaurants and beach access. Rooms were clean and tidy and staff super accommodating. Free breakfast kept us fueled all day long. Walked everywhere and found great restaurants. The Hideout restaurant was very over priced, so the next day we ate more local food. Visited Galle Fort were we completed an amazing cooking class and Elita Restaurant is a must visit for fresh seafood.

Large rooms with comfortable bed right on the beach. Easy walking to many tourist shops and many restaurants. Lots of fresh seafood available from these restaurants. Staff was very friendly and eager to help with a smile. The restaurant prepared a seafood grill each night and set tables with candies at the edge of the surf. Breakfast was very good with lots of fruit and an omelette station as well as curry. Can’t go wrong staying here.

Tartaruga Hotel offers a fantastic 4-star experience, a welcome change after a series of 3-star or less maintained hotels. The hotel is in excellent condition, with spacious, well-maintained rooms and comfortable beds. Both the hotel and restaurant staff are friendly and eager to help. The pool is well-kept, and the air conditioning works perfectly, as does the shower with its very hot water. There's also free parking for your tuk-tuk. The location is perfect, right on the beach and close to everything in Unawatuna. We had a great stay and would definitely come here again! The only minor drawback is the lack of an elevator, so be prepared to climb stairs if your room is on an upper floor.

Good hotel overall. Next to private beach with plenty of loungers and parasols. Good food and drink available. Nice breakfast. Short walk to some of the best restaurants. The room itself was nice although en suite very hot and some damp on wall in bedroom next to it.
