"Wi fi weak, bartender at Vic’s was dismissive, took twenty minutes to make a drink, and if you could catch his eye it would take at least twenty more minutes for an order! The bartender needs help. Also expecting a tip after all of this is insulting. If it where me, I would eliminate the bar stools because he was so busy talking to the guest at the bar, and ignoring the seated guest."

"Comfortable bed, in a spotless room with a beautiful view of the canal and garden. Thoughtful outdoor seating offering choice of sun or shade, and privacy. Delightful buffet breakfast of boiled eggs, cheeses, meats, cereals, fruits, breads, yoghurt and juices. A very relaxed two night stay."

"The staff (Coco, Steve, Thomas, Charles) were exceptional, and the only reason I give the hostel high marks. The property was clean, the beds comfortable, but the bad part was the kitchen with non-working fridge, no soap and paper towels- those would be nice even at an economy class hostel. "Hotel lobby impeccable. Check-in was seamless. The staff was professional, friendly and was always available to assist. Bar was affordable and excellent drinks. Beds were comfortable. The room was clean and spacious."

"massive problem at check in as i was not informed about the access code. as i was checking in at night it created unwanted additional costs. the place is good, the room was spot on, the breakfast was good. The the area in even better. "

"I don't think I've ever written this negative of a review before. This hotel is a quirky (one might say weird) place with a retro vibe. The front desk clerk said it was a renovated reform school for boys. Each room has a different decor, is a different size, but the two we saw were just not what you expect for a hotel. My room was so small I couldn't put my suitcase on the floor. The closet was a metal pole with a drawer beneath it, but the nightstand was up against the drawer so I couldn't use it. My friend's room must have been the communal shower. Her bedroom walls were covered in old bathroom tiles and there were three doors, one to the sink, one to the shower, one to the toilet, each the size of a small closet. When we said we wouldn't stay, the desk clerk offered us "other rooms" but we found the place too depressing. Maybe others would find it fun. There were a number of families playing games in the lobby livingroom. We had paid up front for two rooms for almost a week. No refund or offer to compensate us in any way except to offer us a different room, which was likely to be just as weird (although I suppose it could've been bigger). I thought the photos on the website were completely misleading."

"Restaurant food was fresh prepared every day. Manager is Davide...great guy and very hospitable. Easy access to Metro which makes the distance to central Amsterdam very easy. Rooms are very small so keep that in mind. "

"The staff are not very friendly and especially to independent travellers as the hotel is geared to large groups. There are rules about only being allowed 2 sachets of coffee in the room then you have to buy more. There is a lift but only to certain areas, not all rooms are accessible by lift, which is not good as it appears that most guests are elderly. Breakfast not available to those not travelling in a group. Area out the back in the area that you go through to the car park is an accident waiting to happen with tools and cables strewn around untidily (see photo)"
