"We have stayed at The Shalimar Hotel, every year for last at least 30 years now, as it was good for all the amenities and staff were very friendly and looked after us very well! This time, there were too many issues, which I have submitted to the hotel on their feedback firm and I was very verbal too with complaints. "The hotel behind Saifee Hospital. A side entrance a bit difficult to locate. No elevators..one has to climb 2sets of stairs/2x21=42 straight steps!!! Few rooms smelled high humidity.. the whole inside walls was tiled with what looks like rcream bricks and outline done with green marble. Positive:

They don't provide toilet paper ! noisy employees all night in the corridor...

"Beautiful historic hotel continues to shine. Modestly sized rooms but the ocean facing ones directly overlook the Gateway of India and have a small balcony. I'd choose the less expensive Tower rooms that give you the same experience as the older historic building. All in all a magnificent hotel that fully lives up to its reputation for overall excellence. "
