"I feel bad about writing a negative review for this property- knowing the owner is a new and trying to do the best she can BUT...with that being said...I made a reservation for a 2-nite stay months in advance. While we were driving- about 2 hours away, I noticed a message from Expedia to contact the property. I had not had reception, being that I was at the bottom of a quarry that day doing a dig. I finally got ahold of the property- not easy with limited cell reception-or access to the internet to find the property info.
I managed to get a call out and the owner told me she had to cancel my reservation because there was a rodeo in town staying there and they weren't leaving. So she had no available rooms. ???? I don't know protocol for what to do, but while extremely apologetic- she had no room but did offer and did- to help find us a room elsewhere.
Problem was- we booked that hotel for its proximity to a fossil dig. And again, booked it months in advance. The owner texted me suggestions for hotels in towns along the way- which we had already passed but I didn't have much reception to make calls.
While I do appreciate the owner attempting to help us find another hotel- It's ridiculous to not have a policy in place- or know what to do this from happening. Cancelling at the last minute is just bad business."
