"This is a cute old Inn. Old being the operative word. If you like quaint, old world charm, this is a good place to experience it. The dining room is lovely. Large windows with panoramic view of the river. We only had the German Continental breakfast which differs from standard, so didn’t get to experience lunch or dinner, but I bet it would be very good. Very lovely staff and the owner also came to welcome us."

"A very enjoyable stay at The Fourth Lock. It was a great location for exploring the area and has a really good restaurant on site. We were made very welcome and Jay could not have been more helpful. There are only 3 rooms, ours had access to a balcony with a view of the lake. "Very convenient if you’re catching an early flight out of Halifax. Rooms are small, only queen beds and minimal furniture, but everything is new and well designed. The restaurant is very basic with a limited menu and minimal kitchen skills, but adequate for a simple meal. Recommended for travellers needing access to the airport."

"It is a dorm room with shared bathrooms in each floor and from the photos and description it was not super clear that the rooms don't have a private bedroom. My floor didn't have elevator access so had to carry my bags on the stairs. The staff very very nice though. Parking in the area is free on the weekends. Location is great for access to all the restaurants and tourist attractions."

"We stayed at this property ahead of moving our son into his university dorm. It was a perfect location, easy to get everywhere and a grocery store only a 5 minute walk. There was plenty of room to store our things and we really appreciated the covered car port. The house was very clean and the owners responsive. We would not hesitate to stay here again. My only suggestion to future guests would be to bring some sugar packets if you like it in your coffee :)"

"BE CAREFUL! What I will say is that the woman working the desk that night when we checked in was lovely. That is a positive. However the issues started when we were asked for an additional deposit on top of what we had already paid online. During our check in process a very sketchy man and woman were trying to get into the building. SURPRISE they were our neighbours. Our door/room was on the outside of the building, and it barely locked. Queue the next seedy character that came to join the other...

"Located just a bit north of Halifax, the setting is like you a million miles away. You are about 20 minutes to Halifax, less than an hour to Peggy's Cove, but the setting is so tranquil you might just want to sit on the wharf by the lake. Great breakfast and wonderful host."
