This is a small state park at the northern end of Santa Cruz' scenic West Cliff Drive and a little over a mile from the Boardwalk, wharf and Main Beach. A couple of times a year you can see Monarch butterflies during their migration. They are not in the numbers of years past, but you'll still see some.

If you walk north towards the rocks during low tide you will find some amazing tidepools full of sea anenomes, sea urchins, starfish, crabs, hermit crabs, and all sorts of marine life. The tidepools are on a ledge, so the tide needs to be quite high (>4 ft?) to reach them.

The beach is absolutely stunning at sunset.

"We arrived later in the evening and could only stay one night. But the property is very nice. The room was very clean and well appointed, appears to have recently been updated. Our room overlooked the pool and it is amazing. Large beautiful pool, hot tub, fire pit area and more. We had breakfast at the restaurant in the morning before leaving and it was excellent. "The room was good but the car parking garage, the lift and stair case areas was stinking while we were there. The bathroom was clean enough but the water comes out of shower was so strong where kids cannot shower by themselfs. The laundry system was horrible. No coin operated available. Instead we need an app to install in our phone which was so complicated and not user friendly. These are few negative points I would like to highlight. "

"Updated building, very clean, amazing location, with balconies that give you a glimpse of the ocean and beach. Love the furnishings, bathroom layout, and comfortable beds. Good vibes all around! Would have been a 5-Star experience hands down. However, the extra security lock on our room door did not lock, as the hole did not line up with the bolt. Also, our balcony lock also did not work. Because the property is so nice, we still felt safe, but I think every lock should be in working order in any hotel."
