The guest room was clean, basic, standard size for a 3-star hotel. As my review title says, this was not a boutique hotel experience, other than the small size of the hotel, which is independently operated. There were no personal touches, it isn’t a friendly, warm, inviting lobby, and the location is nothing special - it’s situated next to a busy street several blocks from downtown, and across from a strip mall.
Our room was overpriced for what we got. Nespresso maker was a nice touch, but the lack of other standard amenities is inconvenient. Be forewarned that they don’t provide shampoo, conditioner, lotion, or body wash, just two tiny “all-in-one” bars of local soap the size of a postage stamp under the guise of saving the environment. The decor is fun, but a bit spartan - one pillow per person, no higher end finishes like we expect for the price. Guest room floors are wood-look linoleum (convenience over comfort) without throw rugs, so expect gritty stuff stuck to your bare feet after a shower.
The front desk staff was kind but not particularly friendly or welcoming. Our experience checking in was identical to chain hotel with no special touches. We had to specifically ask about the onsite restaurant (which turned out to be nice) because no info was volunteered. Parking situation is laughable - they provide VERY limited parking for guests, and only 3 spaces will fit anything larger than a mid-sized SUV. Overall a decent experience on par with Holiday Inn Express.
