"This was our first time staying in a La Quinta in 20 or so years. This particular hotel was a newer one. The bed was pleasantly softer than what we have had in other chains. The room was clean and a fairly good size. We had a king with sofa bed.the room air conditioner worked well . The buffet breakfast was standard fare but actually tasted better than any I have had so far. Perhaps because it wasn't overly reheated and tasted fresher. The cheese grits (stone ground( were a pleasant surprise. There were several outdoor features we did not partake in as the weather did not permit. The only real negatives would be the dismissive attitude of the morning clerk when I asked her to repeat something I could not understand that she said and the fact that the weather continually disrupted the Direct TV service"

"My only concern was that Ocean Side does not mean Ocean View. Maybe considering changing the listing to Pool view and upstairs as Ocean view. The way it is stated now is quite misleading."

Holiday Inn Express Saint Simons Island by IHG

"No plug-in for electric or hybrid vehicles. Initial help at desk was great, but we left some clothes in a drawer in room 121 and we had no follow-up or help with tracking them down. We could have had relatives pick them up, but no-one called us back after several calls to the day desk. Night clerk was very helpful and even went to room to check on clothes but could not gain access to maid service and day desk clerk indicated that no lost and found items were new. She indicated that she would check with cleaning staff and have someone call us back. So, wife had to go buy some new clothes to replace the ones left in room."

"The location and amenities of the resort were great. The pool access and proximity to the beach area were a plus. Staff and pool service was fantastic too. I would have given the heading an excellent rating except for the fact that the rooms are a bit dated and in need of a facelift. Certainly not dirty but definitely in need of an update. The resort lobby was upgraded and fit for an excellent rating, but the rooms were lacking the same upgrades as the lobby area. Saint Simmons is a wonderful destination and the resort was close to the downtown area and the resort staff were friendly and professional. We would definitely come back."
