Not what we exected - the pictures and description do not do this property justice. After 18 days traveling across China, including a previous stay in another prestigious 5 star hotel on Nanjing Rd - this property was by far the best value, cleanest, and nicest of our stay in China. My only concern in the future might be the surrounding construction, but between now and the 2010 Expo I think that will be the case throughout Shanghai and our room was 100% quiet, well furnished and a very comfortable bed. I am sure there are may other nicer hotels in Shanghai, but not value priced like this property - we paid double for less when we first arrived at a higher classed hotel. My only complaint that is consistent throughout the country at all of the nicer hotels is having to pay extra to for internet access. It would be really nice if we had 15 minutes a day to check email - since the low end value hotels usually provide it 24/7 for free!

“Great Value in Pudong”

There are a lot of business travellers in Shanghai and their company pays for their room. When you are spending your money, you want a quality hotel at a great price. There are many fine hotels in this area, several on the same block. The Courtyard delivers a great room with excellent service at a great rate. If you are staying in Pudong this hotel is the value benchmark. Yes, you can find a cheaper hotel, but the quality of the room and service will match the price you pay.

Marriott Courtyard is a clean, conveniant place to stay in Pudong, about 5 minutes away from Liuziazui by taxi.

“Good stuff”

A+ for service. Room service breakfast took longer than expected (they didn't tell us it was going to be over an hour wait, we had to go somewhere). Mom was upset and cancelled it. When we came back, the front desk apologized and we had a huge plate of very delicious fruit. We were satisfied that they were able to make it up to us.

“Good location, room, value”

Room was very nice for the price; up to Western standards. Staff is friendly and helpful. Location is good - subway stop is close enough that taxis aren't needed for every outing.
