"I would not agree with the hotel having 5 stars, I think it is a proper 4 star hotel. They lie about having a gym and a sauna: the gym is a 3x3 meters room that has 2 machines and that is it, useless to be honest, while the sauna is only accessible if you take a massage, which costs 80-500 eur depending on the massage. "Gorgeous hotel with wonderful staff. I don’t think they’ve marketed it very much yet (or else the gays aren’t as keen on Crete) because we were the only gays staying there. Full of straight couples and lots of straight PDA at the pool.. strange for an Axel Hotel. As for the location, it’s about three or four hours drive from the best attractions of the island - all much farther west. The AC unit did leak onto our faces as we slept, so we had to stop using it."
