The Red Lion is perfectly located within the picturesque village of Hawkshead. The pub is a great, friendly place to spend the evening and the fact that they serve food is a bonus if you don't want to go out. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

Really characterful property with basic but nice clean rooms with amusingly uneven floors upstairs highlighting the age of the property. Excellent breakfast

Great place to stay! Very homely and cosy with amazing fire place and great food. Bed was very comfy as well. Free parking which is a bonus. And the most importantly - the staff was amazing!!! Thank you for making our stay great!

Rooms are a decent size and good facilities. Bar is great with a good selection of beers and spirits. The food is fantastic! I have a dietary requirement and they catered for me and were very knowledgeable of the ingredients in the meals. Thoroughly recommend staying here.

Probably the only thing to be aware of is that if you get the room on the top floor the roof is quite low and the floor slopes quite a lot. Expected with an old pub like this but be aware. Otherwise a great place to stay in a beautiful little village

A warm and friendly welcome when we arrived. Rooms were cosy and spotless and the beds really comfortable. Great Sunday roast for dinner. Will definitely be back.

The room was spotless really clean with a tv nice clean bedding. With a sink toilet and shiwer that was really clean. And a great pub with great people who run the place. 100% recommend the place. I would definitely stay there again.

A really nice, friendly pub in the village of Hawkshead. The room was good with an excellent bed and the food was amazing. We’d definitely be up for returning.

Traditional old lakeland inn, rooms not luxurious, but in keeping with the age of place and lots of character. Good choice at breakfast, very tasty, and goo service

Bar staff were friendly and talkative. Housemaid was terrific she also served us a delicious breakfast… she worth her weight in gold. We would definitely recommend and go back.

The hamlet of Hawkshead is a national treasure. Tucked away from busier villages like Ambleside. The Red Lion made for a relaxed , comfortable evening with very friendly staff and locals.

Short but sweet

This was a last minute trip and honestly it was just a lovely one. We weren’t there long but the bed was comfy, the room was clean and the staff were friendly. Can’t complain.

Our first stay at the Red Lion. Rooms really clean and comfortable. Food to the usual high standards from Alex and the team. Looking forward to going back again!!
