"Very nice, but No facecloths."

"Being a photographer I come to Iceland often, 19 times in the past 3 years. I have stayed in countless hotels throughout the country, and I have my favorites and my not so favorite ones. This will fall into my not so favorite category. While the cleanliness was fine, and the room was a great price for the area, this building is both a hotel and apartments. It appeared that the hotel was the 2nd floor and the apartments are above on the 3rd floor. There was constant noise from above until...

"As a family of 4, it was great to have room to spread out after the smaller spaces in Reykjavik. You can walk to the grocery store and food hall. The river outside is so beautiful and peaceful, especially after checking out tourist attractions all day. The apartment was fantastic!"

"Its a small self checkin guesthouse in middle of commercial looking area. But well managed and clean. You need to follow simple instruction to self checkin and get into hotel. No staff at hotel. Room was good enough for one night. No shampoo or conditioner so carry with you. No microwave but small fridge and kettle was handy. Wish curtains were more dark and covering whole window as it was very lighted due to sun whole time during summer."

"Helpful team and a perfect location. I loved the breakfast options and the attached food market. I also liked that our suite-like room felt like a univetsity residence room, only with a more thoughtful layout and more space."

"The room we were in was way too hot, with no way to change it other than opening the windows, which let in a lot of biting bugs. There was no cold water; only very hot water came out of the faucets and shower, so we were unable to take a shower or get a glass of cool water."

"We had a wonderful two night stay here. It is a bit away from anything which we liked, but be sure to plan accordingly. It was easy to spend the day on the ring road leaving that morning and making our way back in the evening (the never ending sunlight helped). The room is well appointed, everything you could need in the kitchen. My daughter loved playing with their two well behaved dogs. Be sure to pay attention to their directions, apple maps will take you 30 minutes in the wrong direction."

"I stay at the Eldhestar whenever it is available. Being a photographer, I travel to Iceland a lot (19 times in the last three years). This hotel has the most bang for your buck. Great rooms, nice people, and you get to say hello to the horses each morning on your way out. Near the Golden Circle, Reykjavík, the south coast, and even a day trip to Jökulsárlón is easily doable. I always come back to Eldhestar, and will continue to do so."

"The hotel is not fancy but it doesn't have to be. The chief/manager was so very kind and made me a packed lunch instead of the contineal breakfast. Nothing fancy, but it hit the spot. Was a really special spot and one of the highlights of my trip. "

"Amazing place! Highly recommend. The hosts are also wonderful and very helpful. The community kitchen was a great to have. Comfortable bed, fridge in the room and very clean all around. Would stay here."

"Very artsy decor which seems very unique for Iceland which is usually more sterile/minimalist. The hot tub was not hot enough for our liking. Otherwise very cool place to stay for a night."

"We did not eat breakfast there but they had a nice area to eat and to relax, separate from our room, offering coffee, tea and hot chocolate at no cost. Staff was most helpful. There was plenty of parking available. We just had to enter the name of the hotel and our Apple map led us there very easily. Getting to Westman Islands was easy from there, as was the Golden Circle. "

"Good location, friendly staff, decent breakfast. Maybe the other rooms were nicer but the room with twin beds was just right near the parking space and weirdly laid out. It just looked ‘stripped’. Old curtains, no headboard, harsh overhead lights, sink in the room corner (which wouldn’t fit even a small bottle)"
