"Stayed at Hotel Alta Montaña and it delivered exactly what you want from a mountain base. Clean, quiet, and well run. The staff are genuinely welcoming, not just polite, which makes a difference when you’re staying a few days. The views are outstanding, especially sitting above the cloud layer at around 1,400 meters. From a cycling standpoint, the location is hard to beat. You’re essentially on the climb the moment you roll out. You can head straight toward Teide or descend as far as you like...

"We’ve been staying at the Santa Barbara for many years, and have written about it before. It’s still a lovely place to stay if you want the freedom of an apartment and don’t want to be too close to the main resorts. Whilst the hotel isn’t your normal all-inclusive, the staff are excellent, and the hotel itself is situated right next to a beautiful rugged coastline. "Nice bright room, recently decorated , had a small shower room and toilet and a separate sink area within bedroom. Basic but adequate , no hairdryer. Nice communal kitchen with lounge area, books to read, bicycle storage room. Price expensive for what essentially is a good hostel rather than hotel accommodation .
