"We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. We visited in March and it was very quiet/serene. Portovella has a beautiful view of the Douro. Riverside walk is just several steps down a hill. Photos don’t do it justice because it is so breathtaking in person. The comfort suite was the perfect size with 2 bathroom ensuites and a powder room. View from the suite was incredible. Just plan ahead if you’re staying on a Sunday as many restaurants were closed but we found a gem in Cinfaes - Sabores e...

"We enjoyed staying in a historic place with a very beautiful view of the Douro River. Please note that the only way to get there is by car and the most convenient option is to take advantage of the dinner offered. It should be noted that there is an opportunity to taste very good local wine on site."

"My only regret is not staying longer. Everything about our stay was perfect. The owners are wonderful! We drove in from across Spain, and we were ready to unwind after a long journey; they made us feel at home - we loved it. This stay, albeit short, was one of the highlights of our trip. Dinner was great! Definitely planning on returning. "
