"Very dated and run down hotel, rooms needing an urgent refurbishment. There is a pub with a function room that are part of the hotel, where loud music continues playing until quite late. Location is ok, breakfast had the very basic and while some hot options were ok, others were very underwhelming. Overall, there’s way better options at similar night rates. Wouldn’t recommend."

"I stayed here on a weeknight for a wedding reception, very easy to find within 2 miles of the M1 motorway and plenty of parking. I originally booked a single room but checked a few days before and a double was cheaper so I managed to ‘upgrade’ and save some money! Check in was easy and the room was well appointed with fast WiFi, tea/coffee/mineral water and a walk-in shower with toiletries. "Not as pleasant as stay as usual. They rarely have "proper" coffee in the rooms, only decaffeinated. Bar prices were inconsistent- £7,50 on Saturday afternoon for a large glass of wine yet £7,50 on Sunday afternoon for the same but with a £5 off voucher."

"I’ve stayed in the Hex home many times now. I love visiting the Yorkshire Wildlife Park & try to go for a couple of days at a time. Staying on the site is ideal. The hotel is comfortable with everything you would expect. If you have a room overlooking the park you can often watch the gibbons, wolves or the new penguin arrivals. The bistro next door has a good buffet breakfast to set you up for a lot of walking in YWP. The reception staff are lovely - welcoming & helpful."
